lobo1969 Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Saw this site link in a signature line of a board member on an unrelated comic collecting/investing site. Quote
hobbycrafter Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 I'm with JayDouble. In fact, my join date was so recent I can literally pinpoint the exact moment this entire world of LEGO investments cascaded into my life... It was this comment. http://www.reddit.com/r/lego/comments/22abku/my_wife_is_very_keen_on_the_economics_of_double/cgkwkiz "Retiring?!" -*vague recollections of very VERY high eBay prices for old discontinued sets arise*- A few Google moments later, and I found my way to Brickpicker. With Double VIP, the Legendary MHC Target Blowout, and impending May the 4th deals, I was instantly sucked in. (Should be interesting to note that I found the USA Today article AFTER I found the Brickpicker site itself.) Quote
brickinfinite Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 I stumbled upon this site back in August 2013, probably when I googled "LEGO investment". Quote
Ebjazzz Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 After watching the movie I got re-hooked on bricks. Have dropped about $1k on personal sets for me and my kids in the past 2 months. Found he site through a google search. The deals forum has helped me save a fortune. Quote
Waly6 Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 First post...Found the site through a google search because of dark age. Have a mix of open sets from the 90s and about a hundred big sealed sets from 2012-2014. Read the USA Today article after joining the site which sounds funny in light of how many people join the site. Quote
Legoverse Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 Not sure exactly how I found this place. I've been in a "dim" age for about the last dozen years. Recently noticed the prices for some of the older sets on Amazon (which I have a bunch of MIB), and was browsing around. Didn't realize just how active the buying/selling/investment trend was. And now I'm deeply regretting passing on so many things way back when. Like the Statue of Liberty set. I remember looking at that on Shop@Home and thinking it didn't really fit my needs for parts and colors. <sigh> Quote
Dinkle Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 I found this site by simply googling "lego investing" lol. Quote
speedsausage Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 I was googling for LEGO stuff and found it... Ditto! Quote
Chileman Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 I was building a new house, but couldn't decide on which bricks to pick, so I went to Google and... nah who am I kidding.....! Actually...the site was mentioned to me by an employee at my local B&M store. I was looking for a particular set (can't recall which one) and he mentioned eBay (obvious) but also some other sites as well. Visited a few of them (including this one) and this is the one that stuck out the most. Quote
Locutus001 Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 I randomly found it googling LEGO stuff ;-) Quote
edgecrusher Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 I found an old 6894 Blacktron Invader MISB at my parents house, and found this site when I was researching how much to price it for on EBay. Quote
Cross Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 I was searching for a streaming Korean Gospel audio channel and somehow this site came up. 1 Quote
skizzogenius Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Randomly through Google by looking up minifigures Quote
litlnev Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Interestingly enough A friend of mine who has nothing to do with lego collecting or investing told me about this site. Started to invest a little over a year ago and when I told him about it he looked into it himself, but never followed through on the interest he had. But at one point he did tell me "hey did you know there's a site completely dedicated to lego investing with current set prices and everything?" Naturally I was curious and signed up here. Now I come here every day lol Quote
Sp4rky Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Googling, I was looking for some information about LEGO and Voila, here I am. Quote
minicoopers11 Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 From a USA Today newspaper that an older coworker gave to me, because he knew I was heavy into Lego. I was already a reseller. A couple years later I rediscovered the site thanks to brickset forum members complaining about evil resellers on brickpicker. I thought, "my people!" Quote
wlng81 Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 I got to know Brickpicker when I was reading articles on Brickset.com. Came over and finally able to enter the forum after being blocked a few times. Thanks to Jeff Maciorowski who managed to my account after multiple tries. Quote
randrace Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 I am an avid EBay seller, so when I heard a family friend was selling Legos on EBay, I was excited to talk shop. He showed me what he was selling, and told me about his research process, and talked about brickpicker. Once I saw the 10220 he had recently built, I was in! The last thing I asked him is, "What's the name of that website?" Now here I am, building my Brickfolio! Quote
pcirone Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 I found out about this place in December of 2011 when "evileddie1313" first mentioned brickpicker over at brickset. It's only taken 3 years for me to get involved with the forums though.. 1 Quote
Rob11Z Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 Folks, I figured that I would take a moment to introduce myself and what my wife and I do as I hope to become more active on here in the future: I am new to this site, but not new to Lego's. My name is Rob and my wife and I own Robs Toy's And Collectables on Ebay. (On Ebay it looks like "robstoysandcollectables." We are out of New Hampshire in the USA. We both have FT jobs, myself in Law Enforcement and the Army and my wife works at a school. We've been selling since 2009 and every year we get a little better at it and we sell a little more. A dream of mine would be to retire from LE and do this full time, which might turn into a reality someday soon. We don't claim to be the biggest, the best, or always have the lowest prices, but we do take great pride in every order and in doing the best at what we do. Our two young daughters are also active in the business helping with orders and mail runs. I greatly appreciate hearing from many of you and taking lot's of great advice and hopefully giving some when I can. Cheers! -Rob and Allison Quote
MikeF Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 I was looking for Lego forums on Google and Brickpicker was near the top of the list, simple as that really Quote
duckyluck Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 Stumbled upon this site whilst researching about Lego investing on 12-27-14. Not too exciting haha, but if you want the full story see my introduction page. i will also be posting the story on my profile, -Duck Quote
StevenRuegg Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 Yesterday i discovered brick picker.....my girlfriend bought me a small 100pc lego set for christmas which just made me want to build more and i saw that the harry potter legos i used to play with really jumped in price which quickly opened my eyes to the hidden market legos offer Quote
richardcore Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 I found out about this website about half a year ago when I did a Google search on the value of a secondhand set. I've been a lurker ever since but now it's time to make a real contribution. Quote
