Blackjack Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 When I first got on BP three and a half months ago, stephen_rockefeller only had seven hundred some posts, and most of the people who post a lot now weren't even on the site. Whn did the forum activity increase so much? Quote
stephen_rockefeller Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 You answered you own question man! In the the last three months this site has seen incredible growth. A lot of it can be attributed to the USA Today article, after the article was published in December many people became curious as to what we are all about. Another reason is the quality work and dedication Jeff and Ed put into this site. Also knowledge that members bring to the forums proves to be an invaluable tool in this investing game!! Quote
Fcbarcelona101 Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Man I got here around that time but can't remember how I found the site... frustrating Quote
chinothegeeko Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 I actually found this site through www.thebrickblogger.com Quote
stephen_rockefeller Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Blackjacks thread made me wonder how everyone found out about BP, many found it after the USA Today article in December. I honestly cant remember exactly how I came across it but I think it was one day around April 2012 when I was googling the 10188 trying to find out more info about it. *EDIT I'm an idiot.......it couldn't have been April if I joined in August. 1 Quote
Blackjack Posted April 28, 2013 Author Posted April 28, 2013 Someone I know mentioned a site called brickfolio one day, so I just Googled it one day, and here I am. I didn't really get on the forums until about a month after I got on the site though. Quote
Blackjack Posted April 28, 2013 Author Posted April 28, 2013 IrishGuy66 mentioned something called brickfolio, and when I Googled it, found BP! I told him about how awesome it was that night, and he'd never heard of it. I still have no idea where he got the name 'brickfolio'. :) Quote
dakotahorn Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Ebay -> brickset -> brinklink -> brickpicker My journey Quote
Blackjack Posted April 28, 2013 Author Posted April 28, 2013 Ebay -> brickset -> brinklink -> brickpicker My journey There's a link on BL for BP? Quote
tawsauce Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 I was googling and trying to find a site just like this. In years past i had tried the same thing, but this site was not up yet. I was absolutely ecstatic once i came across BP! Quote
Fcbarcelona101 Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 I honestly wish I knew, and it has only been around three months since I got here so in theory I SHOULD remember... I'm thinking it has something to do with the Tower Bridge set but not sure exactly why. Quote
Alcarin Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 I was googling for LEGO stuff and found it... Quote
comicblast Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 USA Today Newspaper at a hotel we were staying at... Quote
TheOrcKing Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 It think I remember seeing an ad for Brickpicker from some Lego related website but I can't quite place which one it was. Maybe Brickset or TheBrickBlogger? I don't really know; it was just one of those random ads that is shown on the main page. It is weird thinking on it because I don't seem to see those ads for Brickpicker anymore anywhere. Quote
Maverick2k1 Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Brickshow brought me here. They vetted for this website on more than one occasion. Quote
Maverick2k1 Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 More and more people are becoming exposed to other investors/collectors..this site is a great outlet to discuss, debate and speculate with fellow enthusiasts. This pattern of more active users on the forums is likely just going to keep getting bigger, which is good! Quote
TheOrcKing Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 It may seem strange but I still remember the very first thread I created right after I joined. In Memory of Daniel Jezek Hell, Stephen, you were the very first one to reply to that thread, too! No wonder we got along just fine. Ha ha. Oh wait a minute. No the very absolute first thread I started was this one. Stargate in Lego I had to do a check to be sure. Turns out the other one I listed was actually the second one I started. Whoops. Man.... Things were a lot slower and quieter back then. Heh heh. Quote
oldsmobile Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Several of my BrickLink forum threads were deleted when I tried to link to Amazon deals. I was told that those sorts of posts weren't allowed, and that I should go to Brickpicker. So I did! Quote
Darth Lego Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Brickshow brought me here. They vetted for this website on more than one occasion. Same here. It was a video about the top ten investments of the month or something like that. I've been watching their reviews for years, but for some reason I never really watched any other videos they posted. I joined the same day I watched the video. Quote
sadowsk1 Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 I thought I saw something through Toysnbricks.com. I can't really be sure, it was a long time ago. Quote
stephen_rockefeller Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 I thought I saw something through Toysnbricks.com. I can't really be sure, it was a long time ago. Yeah it had to be......you were one of the first members! Quote
kerrmando Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 I learned about it last august from the guys at Block Party Bricks! Quote
CNH1974 Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Ed & Jeff were interviewed on the Beyond the Brick podcast. Unfortunately this podcast has since ended. No more Lego podcasts left. . Not audio ones anyway. Quote
