9472 - Attack on Weathertop

Recommended Posts

Honestly, if it were me, I`d buy 4 Tower Bridges with the money. Maybe 3 and then a couple Weathertop, but to buy 20 just seems a bit redundant. If you have the cash to invest, I`d buy the bigger sets. Less Transactions when it  comes to sales, and still going to generate lots of protit. Just my $.02 though

Ya I got like 20 Orc Forges and now seems target / lego bring them back .. at least with the weathertop we know its 100% retired no more stock

Yes. Buy all at $40 you can afford. You will be happy you did. I like this set better than the orc forge. If I had to choose one of the two for $40 it would be weather top.

Weather top was retired without warning, and most were caught off guard. Investers didn't get a chance to stock up like the orc forge. Weather top was overpriced to begin with, so many passed it up. It was a poor seller at $60. Maybe that is why Lego retired it so soon. This set is likely to be the only lotr Lego set with the ringwrith mini figs. This will drive prices up. I wouldn't be surprised if less weather top sets were produced than the orc forge. Attack on weather top is definfintly a set that is flying under the radar.

Thanks for the tip. I took the clearance tags off the weathertops so the price reads $59.99 instead of $50 nobody would buy it .. I will go tommorow and clean house .. I highly doubt they will be gone since people will think its $60 and just walk by

I saw this walmart have 20 set 9472 for $40 each. Should I buy them all since they are retired or no?

My local Walmart has about 50 9472 all still at full price! The further out Walmarts all clearanced at $40 and have all disappeared. I keep checking the mobile app to see when the store with 50 will clearance. They have easily the biggest LEGO section out of any store around (Walmart or Target) and literally not one thing is clearanced.  This aisles are packed full of old sets, it's ridiculous

Anyways, I'd grab 2 or 3 now, and wait for further reduction and clean out what's left. Since there's 20, that may be a possibility dependending on how hit up your area gets. If not, like others have said there's not need to stock up on these at $40. At 50% off or more it's a no brainer, but 33% not so much. I've tried to find a manager at my store to offer him to take 20 sets at 60%, but the store was baron of employees. Ahh, good ol' Walmart.

P.S. I guess I was lying when I said they didn't have anything on clearance...

Phone spelled it wrong. Retired product.

Ah, I see.

So you just go to Lego.com and search "weathertop" and you get this:

http://search2.lego.com/?q=weathertop&lang=2057&cc=US

Which gives me an idea for a tool if there isn't one already.  It would just auto-search all set numbers and scrape the search results for availability and list all the Retired products.

That's a little dishonest. Just my opinion.
