redghostx Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 I know that in January 2015 I tried to buy items and was not allowed as the seller didn't know how to open up the BIN. I think they removed that option though. Sometime in the last year. I couldn't figure it out and when I googled it I either found old stuff telling you to set the option you speak of or I found new stuff from forums with people complaining the option was gone and only allows you to restrict shipping address now Quote
cissi Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 (edited) Is this fruitcake, or a legit question? "Hey. I received Lego 41999. The box was sealed and was delivered on time, as i'm building this truck, I notice I'm missing many parts. I called LEGO and they told me I'm missing a whole bag and because I bought this on ebay, They can't ship the parts for free unless I pay for it. Total is $61.03 and I think if you call, since you bought it from LEGO, you can get this parts for free. Can you please resolve this issue ASAP? I even have the order# 3002997793 at LEGO . My name is XXX and you can contact me at 214-xxx-xxxx. Your immediate attention will be appreciated. Thank you." My first FB from LEGO Shop at Home came with seals being taped twice, box somewhat damaged. the code wasn't the problematic batch. But it turned out it has one extra bag of bricks si I was happy. lol I'm very excited! I know many have surpassed this but It is a big day for me. It has taken a lot of time and work to get there but this morning I received my 1,000th feedback on eBay and I met my goal to have it be 1,000 positive feedbacks with no neutral or negatives! Fun that it came with a glowing Mixels feedback. I am sure I will not stay 100% forever but it was a goal I have been working on for a couple of years and it came true. Have a good day! congrats!!! This is probably indeed hard with so many fruitcakes in the water! Some buyers probably don't even try to contact before leaving messages! Edited March 4, 2015 by cissi Quote
edgecrusher Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 In December, I bought a 76028 Darkseid Invasion before the official release date to try the parting out game for the first time. I knew there would be lessons to be learned, and hopefully they wouldn't be too bad. My hope was to sell the figs and keep the pieces. The first 3 mini-figs sold no problem (Hawkman, Cyborg, and Green Arrow), but Superman and the Darkseid Maxifig did not sell after 2 listing cycles. I built and displayed the set for a while, but ultimately I decided I wanted to see how it would sell. I listed the ship, secondary vehicle, and Superman and Darkseid Maxifig for $39.99 plus free shipping, as that would ultimately result in a break even on the set. I was very clear in the description and title that it did not include the other 3 minifigs, and it sold after a couple weeks for my asking price. I broke it down and paid $6ish for shipping. Fast forward to today...I get this message from the buyer: Sorry to have to do this but my son did not read the description. The only reason her got the set was for the 3 figures not included. So I have to return this for my money back I'm pretty pissed, but shame on me for trying to work my way to Top Rated Seller status and allowing 14 day returns. Here's my options (I think); what do you guys think I should do? 1. Smile and take the return. 2. Write back that I was very clear in the description (I was) and hope they will reconsider the return and that this is a good lesson for their child, as it would be a good lesson for mine. 3. Send them a link to Bricklink to buy the 3 minifigs that weren't included. The price of shipping back to me plus buying the set new will be about equal to buying the minifigs seperately and keeping the set I sent them. I see upside and downside to both. I want to scold them, but I don't think that will end with anything but negative feedback. I need to eat this one don't I? Quote
wsuskee Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 It says the listing ended march 20th how is that possible? In the end most likely ebay will refund their money so its best to accept the return. Have them pay for return shipping since you didnt do anything wrong. I think they just changed there mind since you were clear in the title and listing. Quote
buidee Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 1. Smile and take the return. Its not worth the hassle or possible negative feedback. Ask them to pay return shipping. Quote
edgecrusher Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Well, option 4 (Wait it out for 12 hours) ended up being the best. I received another message from the buyer yesterday (without responding to them yet) that said "Hey, sorry about the last message I'm going to keep the set, thanks". All worked out in the end, especially since I had decided to just take the return. 1 Quote
sroster Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 So this is pretty common but wanted to ask. I just sold something and the buyer sent me a message (through the ebay system) asking me to ship to a different address than the paypal address. $35 item so not a big thing or whatever. They have 100% feedback but only 5 reviews. Since they asked me through ebay messaging is there any reason I shouldn't send to the new address they are asking me to ship to? I forget what everyone advises in this situation. Quote

I've had CS tell me as long as it's documented by the buyer through the msg'ing system that I'm safe to send to the alternate address, but I would get that in writing from eBay CS for yourself first. matt1147 Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Had a buyer messaged me saying that my PayPal would not except their payment and they were getting an error message. However I just sold another item with no problem on the same day. Anyone run across a problem with the buyer not being able to check out via PayPal? I assume the problem is on their end? Quote

fundylego Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I list any minifigs built right out of the bag as new and explain it description. I have a huge problem with buyers giving a rating after purchase. I had one buyer give me a bad rating until I refunded $1.27 for overage on shipping. He later changed it to a positive feedback after I refunded him. I blocked him for future purchases. EBAY is definitely getting less friendly. Quote

That's called feedback extortion and is against eBay terms. Sellers giving in to buyers demands is half the problem. Edited March 6, 2015 by hxckid88 2 Quote
brickelements Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Question for ebay buyers. I recently (wed march 4th) won an auction style listing for a Mostly complete 6285 Barracuda set. I Paid the same day I won the auction style listing. Handling says: "Will usually ship within 2 business days of receiving cleared payment" I used Paypal (no echeck). Payment Should have cleared immediately. This morning march 6th I asked the seller if they had shipped it yet and if they would please provide a tracking number when doing so. Verbiage of the exchange below: "On 3/6/15, 10:00 AM, brickelements Other: brickelements sent a message about Lego Legoland Black Seas Barracuda Pirate Ship (6285) #331489502646 Good morning, Have you had a chance to send this yet? If you have can you please provide a tracking number. Thank You Scott" ____ Hi Scott, This is scheduled to ship on Monday and I'll provide tracking info at that time. John" Monday? Seriously? How long does it take to box it up? It might be expedited shipping however 3 business days with a weekend in the middle is not acceptable "to me". Any suggestions on how to respond? Do nothing? It irritates me to no end when others don't take selling/shipping as serious. Send the darn lot already. Maybe I am just in a whining mood... Quote

I actually think up to 3 business days after the sale including weekends is pretty standard. For instance I am a bit behind myself because I was out of town for 2 days and then had the mother load of a snow storm dump on me 4 hours after I returned. My prescription is for you to relax, do something you enjoy and chill. Hope it helps. Quote
matt1147 Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 While irritating, I would thank him for his response and say that you're looking forward to receiving the item and leave it at that. 1 Quote

You are assuming that the seller is a BUSINESS and not a HOBBYIST Quote
mscheaf Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 If you set your listings to 2 business days handling time, you should ship out in 2 business days. If you need 3, set it to 3. 6 Quote
brickelements Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I assume nothing. I am not really a business either however I take pride in my quick shipping/handling times. If this were my sale it would have been sent out as soon as yesterday or at the lastest today. I buy a lot so I am keenly aware that most people including myself are not all that patient. Thank you for all the feedback. It is only I minor irritant. I was hoping to receive sooner than later because I needed the sails and a few other pieces for another project. 1 Quote

Your seller is still within eBay's guideline for 2 business days processing. If you want something very quickly, it is best to buy from sellers with 1 day handling who offer next day / express mail. You may end up paying more, but that is the trade off Edited March 6, 2015 by Darth_Raichu 1 Quote
brickelements Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 " If you want something very quickly, it is best to buy from sellers with 1 day handling who offer next day / express mail." Point taken...I do look at handling times for more common items. It would be great to find loads of sellers with 1 day shipping/handling selling off sought after Vintage Pirate sets at reasonable prices. I don't get the luxury of picking the sellers. While not exactly rare 6285 is harder to find than many at prices I am willing to pay. This is for a flip. I should have everything needed to fill it in and relist. Money then spent on NIB items. Rinse and repeat. With the new Pirate line I expect a slight bump in prices for some of the vintage ships as new collectors may want to backfill their collection. This lot will put me at 8 Barracudas. I have 6 complete Schooners, 7 if I can find another set of sails. I am fond of the vintage ships, good builds and the instructions don't hold your hand nearly as much as current iterations do. Quote
minicoopers11 Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I'll check into that, thanks! However like I said I sold another item on the same day yesterday. Buyer paid in the wrong currency? Not sure if that's possible via ebay though, this has happened to me off-ebay. 1 Quote
tonysbricks Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Wait, what. You are harassing a seller that is still within their stated shipping and handling window so you can flip the item? 1 Quote
