PurpleSnurple
For those of you experienced in selling minifigures... I'm just starting to sell some of the older minifigure lines. I'm really good at identifying them by feel, and they seem to be worth more "sealed" online. BUT, how do you prevent buyers from claiming they didn't get the right figure or pulling a scam on you/SNAD case? I'm looking for advice on selling these blind packs... what is the safest way to do it while still making money?

Gonkalin
For what it's worth...I've been selling sealed minifigs for awhile now and I've never had a problem. Knock on wood.
KShine
You cant. If someone is gonna scam you they are gonna do it. That's the risk you take selling sealed packs. Whether an item is sealed or not, a false claim is just as possible. You might know that it isn't true (if it is sold opened), but ebay won't. By the way, a professional scammer isn't likely to waste their time on a low valued minifig pack. They generally will be targeting the easy prey (new seller, no tracking, etc), and high valued items. cissi
An unpleasant experience just came up. I sold a Ewok Village without minigigures about a month ago on eBay to a Japanese buyer, who appeared to not understand/use English much. He claimed that the item is not brand new sealed (which was never mentioned in the listing) and wanted to return. My listing said 'No Minifigures' all over the place and even said some bags are opened. I don't know mind accepting a return as long as I don't have to pay the international shipping. Any one has any experience with how eBay handling international returns? Just got done with this case I posted in the shipping thread. Thought it should have come here. I was out of town when the buyer's returning package arrived. Notice left and package didn't get signed after I came back. eBay automatically closed my case when the package was still in USPS and this final person that I just talked to said they are not going to get my final value fee back. Really BS. I called eBay right after the case was closed to ask why. The rep back then told me I could call back to ask for the final value fee back when I got my package. I may try again tomorrow, depending on my mood. Anyway, here is a piece of useful info. Be aware, BPers. Some buyers are not just buyers. They are ruthless resellers just like we are. There is an invoice in the package and it got me interested since I know quite some Japanese. Apparently this Japanese guy has his Amazon.co.jp store (I found his Amazon store too). After his buyer bought his item, he bought them off eBay. So my EV actually went to his buyer, came back to him, and then me. eBay told me to call back if the item is not complete. Well, something is missing but just now they told me they can't do anything... Oh well... Edited February 13, 2015 by cissi
cissi
Update: I have probably called eBay no less than 10 times regarding to this case. The reps are inevitably inconsistent. The one I talked to last week told me to call back to ask for the final value fee after getting my package. And the one I just talked to 30 min ago refused to give me my fee back. So, I just decided to try it again, using their inconsistency against their own inconsistency. I called the fee department. No need to wait insanely long hold for case department and I could use 'call me' option. A guy called me and within 2 min my final value fee is back. Not too happy an ending dealing with an eBay skunk bag, but not too bad. One funny thing is... having not had this type of case at all in the past, I didn't quite know how to deal with it so the shipping I provided the buyer was in the form of partial refund. (eBay told me I should have done a separate transaction after I called back telling them I haven't received the item within eBay's return time frame.) So when eBay automatically closed my case and got money to the buyer he only got the rest of it. Not bad... lol
justapilgrim
I unleashed the fruitcakes. $60 set listed for $105. I make around $20 give or take after fees and shipping. *here is the asterisk* I listed it for $49 w $55 shipping per request of some repeat international buyers. They don't pay tarriff on the shipping, so it's better for them to have high shipping. Normally I would l list it at $99 w free shipping, hut I'm getting more savvy using the GSP and listed accordingly. The HATE is insane. "Your shipping is highway robbery!" "Please take off $50 shipping I live in the US" "How stupid do you think people are?" justapilgrim
You can insure package for whatever you want, it isn't dependent on what you sell it for. You obviously are missing out on international sales that others are getting at same ****** or higher prices Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Brickpicker mobile app

You can insure it for $100, but then the customs invoice must show $100 value. If you tried to make a $100 claim when the customs papers show $50 value.. well, you''ll your claim lose every time. (ps - I'm not judging the 50/50 nature of the sale... if you were selling for $1/$99 I might, but not with a reasonable split )

justapilgrim
You don't do custom forms w GSP. gregpj
In other fruitcake news, they're starting to reply to my local CS ads. What is your best price on ? Toys r us is $34.99 for that one now Well if they're so much cheaper (I have them listed at $80 or less if you want more than 1), go buy them there. With our tax, TRU's price is about $79 for a 1000 brick box if you can find one. Morons. I was a lot more polite in my reply but I didn't want to be.
