Are fruitcakes running rampant on eBay lately? Selling, buying, listing, feedback, etc...

Dabbling in selling lego grab bags of various numbers:

" these don't look anything like the ones in picture and you shorted me 25 pieces"

I pack them all, and usually throw in 5-10,extra pieces. Also mine come from actual pictures not just a generic bulk photo

I'm sending her 50 more pieces as hush money, I'm sure it was planned and I'm blocking her now

Sold two sets for 350, then buyer tells me he wants shipping to be to China.  Shipping was nearly 300 for what he wanted.  Long story short, after a few days, he never paid.  Ebay refunded the 10% fee, seller gone, now must relist.

Bought a AA for my son, used.  Supposed to be complete, missing about a dozen pieces, Poison Ivy, and gave us a blue caped Batman instead of the black one.  Not happy.  Fun fun!

It's been said a hundred times.  Forget auctions, many just lead to headaches with deadbeat bidders.  Now,  I almost exclusively use BIN with immediate paypal required.  eBay is so stacked against sellers, it's completely out of control.

I thought it was a bit of a running joke on the forum, but now I've seen it first hand. I ordered TLM Benny's Spaceship for a reasonable price ($75 shipped). I arrive at home this afternoon to find a delivery from the post office. The seller wrapped the set in CHRISTMAS WRAPPING PAPER, slapped a shipping label on it, and sent it to my house. Of course the wrapping paper is ripped, the box is still sealed, but mangled.

UGH! I'm frustrated to say the least. Last month it was stollen/lost packages that I took a loss on, now it's s seller who can't even be troubled to use an outer shipping container. The seller has not responded to my message. I can't seem to catch a break. I'm thankful Brick Classifieds is starting to take off.

Trust me, it isn't the only seller - there are lots of them (some don't even use paper - they just slap a label on the box.).

As most everyone predicted ebay ruled that they cannot remove the feedback since you can apparently say any crap you want in a feedback if it is your opinion you don't like the item.

I decided I'm not going to bother emailing this jerk to try to get him to remove the feedback.

I replied to his neg:

Buyer sent 2 additional items as well as given a refund - still left neg feedbck

Wish I could burn him further. PM if you want his name for your blocked list. He doesn't seem to buy legos though but if you have anything with boobs that he might stain you should keep your eyes out for him. Hide your american girls.

The sting always hurts - I tend to be less active for a while after getting burned.

We like to believe that if we take the proper precautions, we will be safe & secure - so when the reality of being helpless hits, it's never good.

I don't understand people.  This transaction was well over a month ago, no claim, no contact, and left this crazy positive feedback.

"Never received my package don't get robbed!!!!"

I guess I just take it for what it is and leave it alone.

its usually the last feedback they left for someone else.  Had it happen a few times over the years.

It auto saves in there and gets left for multiple people.  I saw one guy who had done it 10 times in a row.  I contacted him and he apologized.

I have been doing $0.99 auctions for 100 random pieces to drive traffic to my listings. I also have the ability to buy it now for $5. Every auction (done 5 now) has sold around $10, last one for $12.

I even put in listing that it is available in more quantities in another listing for $5

That's good to know. I'll have to checkout his other feedbacks.

thats a good problem lol

had a tool sharpening system last week in used condition.  Had a BIN of $600 which based off past auctions and stuff seemed like a fair price for its condition (paid $250 for it) and what was included.  Wound of going for $900.

Glad they got rid of sending customers emails of what the BIN was.  A few months ago they were doing that.  For example in your case it would of said buy for $5 even though the BIN option went away after the bids were made.  I called and they said it was another one of there glitches.  Haven't had any of the emails lately so I assume they fixed it.

I checked their feedback and they've left like 4 negatives and they only had a feedback score of (23).  I think you're right, 2 other feedbacks left before me said the same thing and only the first one was negative.  He must have been going in and hurrying through his feedback, although his most recent negative today was colorful.

I went ahead and blocked him, since he appears to be a little sketchy.

just download your defect report in a few days and make sure it doesn't pull up on the list (have an X in the 1,2,3 DSR column).  That is something they could remove the defect from if by some chance he did leave one.

Have someone that bought a turtle lair on 12/3 and delivered 12/11 to retrun it now stating I over charged her and she doesn't want it. I have a 14 day return policy and now we're over a month after it was delivered. I have refused to take it back. I am not going to let her buy from me and return after the holiday when retail store get a it back. The weird thing is she contacted me via email instead of ebay's communications.

This happens a lot.  Last year, one seller on ebay put up three MSIB one of Market Street, Cafe Corner, and Green Grocer, starting bid of $400 and but it now for $850 for the Market Street and Cafe Corner and something like $750 for the green grocer.  Sadly, I could only buy one at the time.  I wound up with the Market Street BIN.  Quickly people starting putting bids in.  The Cafe Corner went for around $1400, the green grocer went for $900s.

Do you guys recommend calling up a buyer who hasn't paid up for his/her winning bid?

Like actually calling?? Noooo.... any communication outside of eBay's system is considered against policy. Plus, that's just kinda creepy LOL. Just open a non-payment case with eBay.

I hate calling people at home and hate it even more when strangers call me at home.  I let the auto NPB system opens and closes a NPB ticket for me.  If the buyer really wants the item, multiple reminders from eBay would remind them about the item.  80% of the time they do not pay and I block those people from ever buying from me again.

Okay, I had to dust this off for this thread... a story I wrote a few years ago (originally published in a little horror mag called Necrotic Tissue). I've mentioned my "secret life" as a horror/fantasy writer a of times couple times in other topics. Anyway, I penned "Enough" after receiving my first negative feedback on eBay. And no, it's not torture porn.

Barry Garner craved positive feedback like a fire lusted for oxygen. That

I have been selling on ebay for over 15 years but just recently converted from media (video games, cds, dvds) to lego.  Do people tend to have a higher rate of issues when selling lego than other stuff.  I am asking since I rarely had any issues with my media items but I have had 2 people who were just nuts over their lego purchase.  First one was a guy made a purchase on Saturday afternoon and he is mad that it didnt ship until tuesday.  Monday was a holiday but I guess he didnt care he expected it to ship.  Well it shipped and he wants his money back.  The 2nd one is laughable.  I shipped a DDC in a box and listed as some minor shelf wear.  The box was perfect just wanted to be safe.  He said it arrived with the box smashed and was mad I didnt use a high quality box.  I said send it back for a full refund plus return shipping.  He wanted me to pay him $10 for his time to drive to the post office.  Then said he would leave positive feedback if I refunded his money in full and he got to keep the item.  Luckily he threatened feedback against me and ebay is very against that.  eBay cancelled the transaction so he couldnt leave feedback or contact me again.

Is this normal with Lego buyers on ebay?  Are they just a strange bunch?  Hopefully I wont have any more issues.  Just sucks when you offer a full refund plus return shipping and they are still pissed.

What I need to know about the above story that is missing is when he went to the counter at the USPS and turned over the package.

Did he select yes or no on the display for if the package contains any restricted contents (biohazard, perfume, etc)?

LOL
