Darth Lego Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 I just got done searching the most expensive LEGO eBay listings and this was in the top 25 or so. These Thomas the Train DUPLO sets are listed for a whopping $5,000. The Brickpicker value of these sets is only $367.11! Looking at the data for these sets shows not many sell and most of the prices have been pretty stable over the last 6 months. TheOrcKing Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 You know, on the odd wierd thought that maybe in some far off plane of existance that Duplo sets were a good investment, I'd still stick with buying plain regular Lego sets. I'm up for diversification and even invest in things you don't like, but there isn't any kind of conversation, discussion, fact sheet, whatever, that could convince me to intentionally invest in Duplo.I can only see Duplo as a great toy for your toddler and when the time comes, either pass them down or donate them. Maybe try and sell them for a few bucks and make a little bit back.....Okay, that rant had little to do with your eBay listing. Honestly, that came out of nowhere. Anyway, that's some find, Darth Lego. I haven't paid attention to what Lego releases as Duplo sets in a very, very, long time. The main positive I could come up with for those is....they're trains....and that's it. Quote
comicblast Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 I don't think I can name anyone who would buy $5,000 worth of large plastic bricks for their kid. Now I can name quite a few that would buy small plastic bricks, but not large ones. Someone should invest in Duplo just to see what happens. Quote
