Snowcrash Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Imagine being 6 year old boy and walking into a room like that. Now imagine being Legodog walking in about an hour later! 1 Quote
agp548 Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 The shelves are from Home Depot. They were on sale for $45 each. HDX 24x36x72 5-Tier Shef. http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/******-5yc1v/R-100006678/h_d2/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10053&langId=-1&keyword=HDX+shelf&storeId=10051#.UR_gQZG9KK0 Thank you. Quote
exciter1 Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Here are other shelves I've used that are only $35 each: They have them at Wal-Mart for $35, but for some reason they aren't on the website. http://www.kmart.com/plano-5-shelf-resin-shelving-unit/p-005W413230110001P?pageInd=product&PRODUCT_TITLE_BRAND=plano-5-shelf-resin-shelving-unit¤tProductTitle=plano-5-shelf-resin-shelving-unit&prdNo=1&isSEOCanonURL=true&catgroupId=005W413230110001P&catalogId=10104&blockType=G1&storeId=10151&partNumber=005W413230110001P&blockNo=1&i_cntr=1361047237619 Quote
Ed Mack Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Looks great!!! I use the same HDX shelves from Home Depot. They work well with LEGO boxes because they can fit a larger box from a set like Epic Dragon Battle...sideways. Quote
eracine Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 lego dog that is awesome. I started collecting around December and suddenly I am looking at a lot of legos and I need to be organized as well. It seems to creep up on you when you stand back and look at the pile of boxes. How long have you been collecting? Quote
kerrmando Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Awesome collection man! I use the walmart shelves mentioned above. They work great, and they are black so work better for the color of the room I store them in! Quote

eracine Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 I hear ya my wife is starting to get into it as well. While I am at work I will get texts about sets she finds as she is shopping. Brickpicker is our go to site. My kids started this, they have probably over 100 sets. Out of the blue my son will ask me if he can have this or that I just say "they are not ours", he likes to ask when i am distracted hoping to catch me off guard. Quote

My wife is getting in to it too... if you look closely there are ones tagged with a pink sticky note. Those are ones she tagged that she wants for herself. LOL. Quote

I also have two little ones (6 and 5). They are both into Lego, and have a very big collection that they take very good care of. Keeping my "stash" a secret has been challenging, especially when it keeps growing by the week (250+ sets and counting). They do not know that Daddy is a lego salesman...lol. I just built a storage system in our spare room in the basement, complete with locking doors that I keep the "stash" in. I can only imagine the look on my son's face if he was to stumble upon it. lol The nice thing about being a collector/investor is that when a birthday or christmas is getting close, all I have to do is pull a few things out of the stash and the shopping is done...lol. Good job, Legodog. Your setup looks great. Quote
Grolim Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Nice collection! Very cool orginisation as well. Quote
nolanfan34 Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Let me buy one of those Harry Potter sets...JUST ONE PLEASE. :-) Awesome room and nice work! Quote
Rich B Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Looks good man!! I have those same shelves! Quote
lego the hutt Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Yesterday I finally organized my whole collection. Now I have room for more Here are some photos... Nice boxes but could you show us pics of the room with built sets/loose bricks/mocs etc? Whatever you are into. That is more fun to see than boxes, and I know anyone with that many unopened boxes has a Lego collection somewhere else in the house. Could we see that area? Quote

Legodog Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Wow!!! Nice... Are you selling them or you are collecting them??? Just curious.. I've sold some. I am holding on to most for a while until I feel it is the right time to sell. All packing materials are in an unfinished room above the garage. Quote

Legodog Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 This is the start of the LEGO city my wife and I are building. We just started so there is a lot more to do. I will post photos as it progresses. I took the photos at night with my phone so the quality isn't the best. Quote
Eremis77 Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Very cool! I can only wish that someday my wife and I have a house with enough space for Lego displays more than a single shelf or two in size. Quote
