stephen_rockefeller Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Our very good buddy Allen "Tormentalous" Tran has reported on his website that Eurobricks has leaked small bits of info on a restaraunt modular set for realease next year, on the surface it seems pretty lame but probably too early to tell. http://www.thebrickfan.com/new-2014-lego-modular-building-revealed-is-a-parisian-restaurant/ Quote
TheOrcKing Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 YES! ALRIGHT! WHOOHOO! About dang time they'll do an actual restaurant! (Cafe Corner looked more like a fancy coffee bar to me.) Even though I would have liked something along the lines of a fastfood or pizza joint, this will be interesting. Quote
M4x18 Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 I don't know what to make of this. For me it sounds too much Cafe Corner-ish. I would've liked a school or a hospital. It will surely be an awesome building, but I had another expectations for the next modular. Quote
Diabolos80 Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Somehow I don't imagine a parisian restaurant fitting in to well beside the fire brigade, town hall, pet shop, and palace cinema, which all seem based on American architecture... But any modular is a good modular in my book. Quote
TheDarkness Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 To be fair, compared to the other modulars, the Pet Shop itself is a bit messy.... Quote
Guest ph4tb0i Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 To be fair, compared to the other modulars, the Pet Shop itself is a bit messy.... I actually love the pet shop! lots of detail inside and seems to have a lot of playability with it as well. though tbh I see the Pet Shop and Town Hall retiring way before Grand Emporium ever does. Something about a mall that makes it very attractive vs the others. Quote
Huskers1236 Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 I don't see any issue with this at all. Many downtowns have restaurants on the base floor with upstairs apartments. They won't disappoint with it, it will fit in well. Quote
spener90 Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 I expect Lego to retire 3 modulars in the next year and few months. Obviously the Fire Brigade and GE, but I believe the Pet Shop will go in early to mid 2014. Quote
Guest eightbrick Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Really excited for this one, thanks for the heads up Stephen The stellar outside and interior of last year's mod, the palace cinema, is a really encouraging sign. Apparently, the info has some relation to EB member GRoggal, and from past experience he is a very credible source. Quote
DoNotInsertIntoMouth Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Hopefully this means that some of these modulars are going to be done. Quote
weakside Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 I don't own any modulars yet (resisting the urge to get ONE as than I would want to get ALL of them haha) but would love to see an 'arcade'...complete with PacMan/video games, pin ball, foosball, hot shot (basketball) and skee ball machines, build-a-bear, etc. Have a minifig of those change guys with apron walking around haha. Guess I'm revealing how old I am lol. I classic diner would be cool too. They have a cinema already but doing a MOC drive in theatre would be awesome. 1 Quote

I was considering doing a Flynn's Arcade MOC from Tron, but then I realized I'm not that good at MOCs... Quote
akohns Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 I can see a red, white and black checkered motif classic 50s style diner with apartments above 1 Quote

But any modular is a good modular in my book. That's interesting, the buildings have always had a European feel to them to me. The picture on Stephens link only really shows the awning so the rest of the building could look like anything. The only thing I think we can count as a definite is that this will not be a corner building. Quote

Plus, Palace Cinema just came out and that's a corner. Never say never, I suppose, but I really think this sets up as a storefront. Quote
TheOrcKing Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Plus, Cafe Corner was, umm, a corner unit, so this just has to be a side section. Quote
TheDarkness Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 If Grogall said it you can take it to the bank. He is nearly always the first to mention new sets or get the official hi res pics. He had the official set numbers for Ewok Village, Opera House and new Winter set ages ago. Quote
Diabolos80 Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Is there a picture of the new winter market anywhere yet? Quote
brickolodon Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 ....better that fast food restaurant...lol Quote
