spener90 Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 (edited) With the 5th movie, will Lego bring it back? It would seem fitting, they might be finishing the LOTR/The Hobbit line temporarily (although I wouldn't be surprised if that has a more permanent spot eventually). I missed out on the first good sets - I want one of those ships. Quote
IrishGuy66 Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 If so, I'm buying five of every ship in the lineup! Quote
DoNotInsertIntoMouth Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 If so, I'm buying five of every ship in the lineup! Waiting for emazers to come in and say hes buying 75 each. I wonder how many queen Anne's and Black Pearl's he had. Quote
emazers Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 as of right now I have 47 Black Pearls and 42 Queen Revenge, and when Costco had the Black Pearls for $59.99 on Clearance since nobody was buying them I should kick myself for not buying 100 of them. Ed 3 Quote

Ed Want to sell me a black pearl for fellow brickpicker discount. By the way, how do you have enough room in your house to keep all of your legos? Quote
Darth_Raichu Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 One thing for sure, the minute TLG mentions a new version of Black Pearl is the time to dump your stock of current Black Pearls. 1 Quote

JoshTX Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 I could be wrong, but I have a feeling it isn't coming back. Quote
IrishGuy66 Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 I really hope they do so I can buy it cheap lol Good point. I'd buy all the older Black Pearls just to get a laugh. Quote
spener90 Posted July 10, 2013 Author Posted July 10, 2013 I really hope they do so I can buy it cheap lol I don't guarantee it, but I would be surprised if not. I think it might end up like Hogwarts Castle, many different variations. Quote

seapotato Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Okay question - should I sell my Queen Anne for $190 (used, 100% complete with box) now, or should I hang onto it? I know it will probably go up in price a bit more, but what are your predictions on how much more? Did it retire quite recently? (I'm so new to investing, I have no idea!) Quote

Give it another year or two to appreciate. Ships always have a healthy demand and appreciate nicely over time. New Imperial Flagship for example, has appreciated around 2-3 times it's RRP. If you picked them up when LEGO Shop at Home was clearing them out, more power to you. Quote

I would sell it - You are right about this, but that doesn't mean used sets appreciate like that. Used to New gets to be a bigger gap as sets go up in value. I would get rid of it and buy something new that was about to retire. Quote
seapotato Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 So one yes, and one no. More opinions needed please! lol. Quote
matt1147 Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 I would hold on for another year at least Quote
justafrog Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 On a side topic: so Costco sometimes has Lego? I checked out the toy section today (been watching for them to open it up for the season) and it was infected with multiple Megabloks sets, but no Lego. Just checked Costco.com and no current Lego there. Quote

Just checked Costco.com and no current Lego there.I remember hearing about Sam's Club getting a bunch of Lego just in time for the holidays but has nothing as for the rest of the year. I have not seen this for myself but I may stop by mine to see if it happens this year. Quote
Doofy McGee Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Other than the ships, I don't think PotC Legos were ever wildly popular. I don't see Lego bringing back another series. The only way it would happen is if there was a shortage of other good blockbuster stuff to put out at the time. Quote

Wait until Fall /Winter 2014 just before the LOTR ship retires. Sell them and you will fetch between $200 and $250 easily. If sealed ones are going for $350 to $400 by then, you will get even more than $250 Quote
CelesAurivern Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Other than the ships, I don't think PotC Legos were ever wildly popular. They should produce a sailing ship once a year. Idiots like me will lap them all up. Quote
kerrmando Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 I don't think its going to come back, still kicking myself for not buying all the 50% off Queen Anne's I could have at Target =/ Quote
JoshTX Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Well it looks like Disney is ending their relationship with Jerry Bruckheimer after this 5th film is done, so I'm guessing this is the last POTC for awhile and there surely won't be another LR. Not sure Lego would want to reboot the sets again knowing they are going to change focus at Disney. http://mobile.reuters.com/article/idUSBRE98J03M20130920?irpc=932 Quote
