Furbs
Ok, So early signs are that this film is not that good, currently residing at 6.6 on IMDB, 37 on Metacritic and a Rotten 23% on Rotten Tomatoes. How do people think this will effect the Lego Sets? Destined to EOL early? Will people still invest in these sets? Is the Western Theme popular enough for it to succeed past its Lone Ranger Label, as it could easily pass as generic western. What are peoples thoughts. Fcbarcelona101
I will stay away from everything other than the train at a good discount. I actually hope they EOL early, that way maybe the train performs even better!
pickleboy
This line is going to flop. Everyone who buys LR is gonna be upset they didn't buy TMNT.
M4x18
This line is going to flop. Everyone who buys LR is gonna be upset they didn't buy TMNT. TMNT? Really? Not making a point in favor of LR, but you think TMNT has potential?
pickleboy
TMNT? Really? Not making a point in favor of LR, but you think TMNT has potential? Only b/c I have been selling TMNT figure and vehicles for awhile and have seen most of the stuff nearly double every Christmas. $9 figures go for 16-18 $25 Shellraiser for $45...$100-120 Secret Sewer lair goes for $200 (All non-retired.) TMNT has been a kids favorite for two generations now. I know LR has a following too but basically it has to be reintroduced to todays kids. Just my opinion and what little experience I have selling TMNT stuff.

Plus it looks like a "classic" train, which we haven't had in a while which should bump it up a little. Same for the stagecoach. It'll probably appreciate IMO because of its historical significance, not because of the Lone Ranger movie. If TLG decides that it's a flopping theme, we could see them on Christmas Clearance!! RunMan3
My wife and I went to see the LR movie on Thursday afternoon. Only about 50-60 people in theater and not one kid. Everyone was either bald or grey haired. I was very disappointed in it personally.

Not so much now but there definately is potential in a series which has been around for almost thirty years. I've seen some crazy eBay sales as well so I'm a 'Turtle' believer. :derisive:
JoshTX
We had an all-hands meeting this morning at work and as I prepared my presentation in the minutes prior, I listened to my employees bash this film left and right in casual conversation. Even the the couple of 40-somethings who had seen it were very critical. Kind of bothersome, but I still want to see it.
matt1147
It's official - Lone Ranger had one of the worst opening weekends ever - in line with last years horrible "John Carter." Don't know what this means for the lego line, but it's doubtful there will be sequels. Too bad really - I thought it had potential. Movie was good, but not great in my opinion. Huge mistake making it PG13 IMO.
seapotato
I wasn't too impressed when I saw the trailer, and when I watched the movie, it was...meh. Lots of good action and interesting characters, but I feel like it isn't your typical Disney blockbuster hit. I'm a little hesitant to invest in TLR Lego sets for this reason. jaylay
of course kids will see D2 rather than LR ... its the older crowd that will want to see LR and then take their kids with them. LR is a reboot of the black and white show which only older people know and love. getting a young kid to like it, well, will take a lot of Johnny Depp ... haha
Alcarin
As predicted.... It will do average... definetly better than Prince of Persia, Atlantis, Galaxy.... But alot worse than Star Wars, and similar.
rafcon
Seeing this set on the shelves before the movie is released always makes me hesitate (kind of like when they release video games based on movies.) Hopefully the sets do well, but I'm not optimistic and think they'll eventually disappear along with the movie (sooner than expected)... could limit availability and help in the long term, but desirability is obviously low right now and the constant panning by the critics won't help sales of any LR products. Guest eightbrick
The stagecoach is #4 on the Amazon Bestsellers list (US), with the others coming in between #13-#56 (as of this posting). I agree the results could be more consistent, but it doesn't look too bad.
Legbrick
Soooo... the verdict is? Buy LR sets for future $$ or no??? Stagecoach and Train and that's it? None? We need to know!
Grolim
Soooo... the verdict is? Buy LR sets for future $$ or no??? Stagecoach and Train and that's it? None? We need to know! What's the rush? They'll be out for quite some time yet. Closer to the end of their run you'll have a far better understanding of how the movie was received and how the sets have sold on the primary market.
