willy431 Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 yay or nay? They are "sponsored" links on Ebay for most lego searches. I had a $1200 order ready to click---they are verified paypal---but that doesn't mean much I found out. The phone number is no good...so I am going to pass. But if anyone else wants to risk it--let us know, Website has been live for 5 years--so it's not fly by night, and they are a paying advertiser on ebay. and their business account is linked to the correct paypal address.....so who know. I am going to pass---but man--this is really tempting. Quote
emazers Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 My son ordered a Lego set from here the other day, lets see if he gets it. Will Post it as soon as he does or does not get it. Ed Quote
pickleboy Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 I can't even pull the website up or find it on google. Quote
willy431 Posted June 25, 2013 Author Posted June 25, 2013 Please do....I am ready to grab at least 10 sets if this is legit. I was ready to fire until I brought up the contact us page and called the number--its dead. Though they had fire brigade Saturday, and now they don't......so the inventory did change Quote
emazers Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 So until I hear something I would wait before anybody orders anything from this website, My son said he has tried calling today but nobody answers. Quote
willy431 Posted June 25, 2013 Author Posted June 25, 2013 Also--- I sent a penny PayPal and they did not respond. That is a huge red flag. 90% sure it's a scam---but there is always that chance. What if. Quote
willy431 Posted June 25, 2013 Author Posted June 25, 2013 '> That is how I check to see if a person is verified, and send a note to contact me. I heard nothing back after 24 hours...definitely looking like a scam. Quote
metsrock507 Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 can you double check the name of the websites spelling, nothing came up for me under that name... Quote
Snowcrash Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 promotionlists.com. Try that pickleboy As with most things if something appears too good to be true or "off"... Whois shows no contact info, just a "Stacey Scott" and a PO box in CA. The phone isn't connected. Willy's payment went unanswered. They sell and eclectic mix of things, including a strange variety of Lego sets which would be impossible for any small time business to acquire through legitimate channels, and at a price which they could not possible be making any profit on. Either this is some sort of elaborate fence for stolen merchandise, a clumsily executed attempt at a money laundering business, or just another scam... Quote
Veegs Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 People always be scheming...Emazers, if your son gets that set, I might give them a go... Quote
Diabolos80 Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 It seems like there are new reports of Lego scams more often these days. Not to beat a dead horse, but is this a sign of over-exposure? If scammers are specifically targeting Lego collectors, they're at least aware of the market. Or, we could just chalk it up to Lego being the most popular toy on the planet. Actually, the latter is probably the explanation. Either way, this site reminds me of SalesAvo and a couple other illegitimate endeavors. Thanks for mentioning it, Willy, but I think your skepticism is righteous. Quote
Darth_Raichu Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 I like how some members of Brickpicker keep on ordering from suspicious sellers even though the signs point to 90% scam. Members of other websites run the other way when there is at least 60% chance of scams. Are we just a bunch of optimists ? Quote
Snowcrash Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 I believe we're all basically good at heart, and everyone bwahahahahaha..... Quote
Sabrejimmy Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Oh wow. Check out their "About Us" page. It's completely plagiarized from Mr. Wamart himself!!!! I thought it sounded kind of weird, so I did a quick google search. Here is the link to PL about us page- http://promotionlists.com/index.php/about-us And here is the Walmart link- http://www.walmart.com/cp/An-Introduction-to-Walmart.com/542413 Funny how they took out the part about free parking. ha ha ha. Guys, this site is total BS 1 Quote

Members of other websites run the other way when there is at least 60% chance of scams. Are we just a bunch of optimists ? You are being very kind. Our site is here to prevent this sort of fraud. Some members choose to ignore the wise words of others and insist on wasting their time and money with sites like this. The old phrase...If it sounds too good to be true...blah...blah...blah....applies in LEGO purchasing 100%. 1 Quote

The website also appears to be generated from a template that allows you to "skin" it to suit your style. Both signs of a scam. Quote

Guys, this site is total BS "The secret of successful retailing is about giving customers what they really want." I'm dying to give these scammers a message something to the tune of this: Dear Sir, Regarding your mission statement, I have a little ammendment to suggest to make it better fit your business' core values and principles. Here it is: "The secret of successful scamming is to provide services for a price that is low, but not questionably so. That and to not copy/paste Walmart's mission statement." Have a nice day. Cordially, Brian P.S. Give willy his penny back, you jerk! Quote
Snowcrash Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 I'm certain this is a scam, just not sure of the mechanics behind it. I'd be interested to know if your son gets his order Ed. Quote
rcdb1984 Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Scammers will keep scamming until there is stricter penalties for offenders. Great detective work by everyone to get to the bottom of it. That's one of the many reasons this forum is great. Quote
emazers Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Well he ordered the Olivis'a House because it was only $60 just to see what happens, but no emails or can't get of hold of anybody since Thursday. so when we hear something you will to. Ed Quote
metsrock507 Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 i personally believe you will get your lego if you buy from this guy. however the lego will arrive with a receipt from either walmart or TLS that says that some guy from texas paid 150$ for the set. Quote
Spartikis Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Soon as i saw the Official PL logo in the top left corner was all grainy and probably just sized up in MS paint i knew something wasent right. If this website turns out to be legit do let us know tho Quote
