I bought a$300 worth of used Lego on CL...tried to bargain down but they supposedly had other buyers.

It was a lot of 12 medium to large "complete" sets ranging from Star Wars, City, Technic, and Ninjago from about 2014-ish period all in original boxes (side note...I have come to the conclusion that sellers who kept the box are informed sellers...so no great find or lottery ticket winners)...the main one was the 2nd release turbo tank...clever to post a pic where it was hard to get details.

When I finally examined the sets...I was disappointed...typically I like to get 3x the used BL value at least (my last deal was $225 resulting in about estimated $1200 value)...but this time the 12 sets were more duds and I would barely get back the original investment...lesson learned

BUT

They included a large box of "loose" legos; I discovered by "loose" they mean about 40 lbs of excellent condition Lego bricks all bagged seperately by color...it was a treasure trove for anyone looking for extra parts.  I would bet I could turn around just this box for $200 easily as is...even had dozens of minifgures...I was only able to recognize an older Harry Potter (excellent condition [which is the key description here]) during my quick asessment.

Anyway it's actually a lot of work sorting, building, and selling so it's far from easy money but I do like the hunt.

Stay away from my area! ;):D   I guess I was one of the other buyers. I was texting with that person shortly after they posted it. I was hoping to get more info on the loose Lego but the seller didn't know what was in there and didn't have time to send me pics. I passed because none of the boxed complete sets interested me. Hope you find some good stuff in the loose box.

To add to this thread, I picked up a loose and supposedly complete Saturn V from OfferUp for $50. Seller was a 13yo kid who stopped building after being in about 4 baggies deep. He said he got bored and went back to playing Fortnite on his PS4. Box was included along with the Lego-specific shipping box. I compared the remaining sealed bags with a picture from an unboxing video and they checked out. And for the price, it was worth taking the risk that the loose pieces from the opened bags were all there. He said he got it as a gift. I hope whoever gave it to him doesn't find out he sold it for $50.

Nice kid. He even shook my hand after I paid him.

One of my area Targets had some of those clearance Star Wars sets at 50% off. I grabbed several Cantinas and a few battle packs. I even got a few of the First Order Scout Walkers, even though I am very lukewarm on this set, I am hoping at nearly 60% off it can't really miss. I find the set to be incredibly bland however. I smell Encounter on Jakku/Battle on Takodana disinterest and flooding, but a few won't kill me in case I am wrong I suppose, at that price.  Seems like most of the stores in my region have several of them at the $21.49 price, I will probably gamble and see if they drop to 70% off. But since I was already at the store, probably not worth a return trip to save possibly $20...

After all the recent Exo Suit chatter, I bought an open box, sealed bags one for $20.50 on eBay.  I have been thinking about getting one for months.

This is a great set and will fit well with my space Lego collection.  One more that finds a new home.  :)  Funny thing is I ended with two after my best offer was accepted on another auction.   Exo Suit army?  May sell the second one since I really do not need two of them.

Also picked up a few of the Scout Walkers @15.48 ea I believe (was 50% off an already reduced price of $30/31 something) and 5 First Order
Specialist battle packs @7.48 each.  Not high hopes for either, but no big loss if they don't produce much.

nice score. That purple dragon will surely fetch you some pretty $.

I found an open box sealed content 41178 on offerup for $50 in Jan and sold it for $250 on ebay within a minute of listing

I recently purchased both Cafe Corner and Market Street to complete my collection of modulars. Both are 100% complete, built, and with instruction booklets, and I payed $450 total. Not as good as the deal I got on my other modulars, but I'm happy with it.

bought a pair of the China region sets from ebayer in S. Korea for $144 ea shipped (refer to that thread for my reasoning)

I read his reviews and his feedback for these specific set sells have all been positive

Fingers crossed

I've had good luck on bricklink also for some rare stuff. Was there a reason not looking there? Maybe you did.  Some about that much in u.s. already. Suppose some reason to not trust a long distance seller but you DID look into seller first.    Enjoy them:)

Oh and I bought an exo suit;) for reals.(LEGO)

actually forgot to check BL...and I agree the prices seem comparable (w/ less risk, I guess)...but with me, the shipping is always the deal breaker whenever I get some things in a cart....unless I buy a lot from one store, the shipping typically ruins the deal...and ofcourse w/ BL I like one thing at one store and another at a different store...I am carefully saving stores in my state as I come across them.

Where? lol

Jet.com discounts them as low $44 and Samsung Pay has a promo till midnight where you get 12% cash back from there so you're getting each one under $40.  The max you can buy was four but I think they just changed it to a max of one.  I was going to buy 50 more but oh well.  That's pretty stupid they did they did that because they are doing the same promo for many other architecture sets.  I don't have the time or energy to play the gift card game with Target if they are doing a limit of three for NYC.  I may be done buying for the day or I may pick up 75 more London.

My account has never been flagged on jet.com. They seem to have loose policies. I started ordering sets of four on Friday & already have 40 so far. Their shopping cart is back to a limit of 4 sets. Picked up another 50 units or so. I'm done buying for a few weeks at least.
