What Lego set did you buy today?

My faith in buying retired sets direct from Amazon is restored for now.

  • 60102 City VIP Plane (441S7).
  • 42048 Technic Go Kart (40S7)
  • 21131 Ice Spikes (439S7)

All recent productions and all in very good condition, apart from annoying barcode stickers on two of them.

I hope you didn't pay too much for those. I've rarely had any problems with Amazon and any discount was always offered as soon as I complained. There's not many sales on right now and all good sets in Berkshire are scanning at full price everywhere. We'll get more deals soon once retailers start losing sales.

I paid the right price to turn a profit now, but I'm eyeing a bigger return in November. Really like the Go-Kart (my son likes Mario Kart and he wants to build this Lego set). The VIP plane and Limo are unique enough to do well. Ice Spikes had a short production run and low number of resellers.

So, yes feeling optimistic.

Good... I got my 42048s when they were half price and I'm selling them all day for £30, but I'll keep some back fro next Xmas. The only problem with 42048 is the crap steering where it always seems to pop out, 8256 with proper rack/pinion was so much better IMHO and I have 4 of those left. I also bought some VIP Plane Limos from Tesco instore last year for £12 and flipped them all the same week. I don't know why, but I just can't get interested in Minecraft - perhaps as I'm anti-Microsoft?

Good luck anyway!

Thanks. To be honest I only go by recent sold prices. Aeroplanes interest me and some have performed well (60021 and 41109) - perhaps Lego planes have an appeal for aviation enthusiasts who collect fleets.

I'll buy most Minecraft at 3 for 2 all day and pay close to RRP some recently retired sets, including Wither, Ice Spikes, Dungeon and End Portal. Stock of these sets must be all-but-gone.

Bought a kwik mart and a Simpson’s house for RRP from Smyths.

I was in my local Smyths yesterday and they had 3 Simpsons Houses sitting there, looking pretty mint!! I know it's doing well already for a set that hasn't officially retired but at RRP I'm worried there isn't much meat on the bone! I wished I'd gone deeper when I was picking these up easily at £130!!

Only really worth buying RRP if it exceeds £300. Who knows? Maybe next Xmas. If it doesn’t I’ll just add the kwik-e mart to my modular town and make a small profit on the house.

Okay, I know this isn't the right thread. But what did I buy for $40? All I saw was in the pics of the small bin was the flat Islanders 6278 baseplate and some of the blue half assembled ones on the left. Maybe the Gungan sub...I also see some Bionicle stuff but I'm not familiar with that at all...

75185 @ 39

75139 @ £29

75532@£30
75185@£39

All in my Tesco about 20 deep?

What you guys reckon any gooduns?

75185 @ 39 - Tracker
70904@18 (aren’t these retired now) ? - Clayface (retired)
75139 @ £29 - Battle on Takodana (retired)
75171@38 - Battle on Scarif - (retired)
75532@£30 - Scout Trooper Speeder Bike

Always worth mentioning set names to save others the trouble. All still seem a bit steap still, scout trooper is a nice set at £30 for personal build. Would probably skip the others.

The fact they are all 20 deep probably gives you the indication you need . . . .

Any doubt, look at eBay sold listings to gauge recently sold listings and see if there is any meat on the bone.
