What Lego set did you buy today?

Yea, and now I'm suppose to compete with your buy-in prices ;)

Due to his lack of storage space, MinifigW sells lots of stuff at RRP or slightly below so he's targeting a different market. I think most of are are safe from his SYW chicanery :)

Kmart score:

2 x 70903 Riddler racer for 2.64 total

2 x 70905 Batmobile 10.54 total - this was originally 2 riddler racers bought online for in-store pickup, shortly after ordered was placed received a phone call from the store saying they couldn't fulfill the order and offered to replace it with the Batmobile.  I thought it was just going to be 1 bat mobile for both riddler racers as they equaled about the same.  Went to pick them up and they gave me a bat mobile for each riddler racer.  Went to the toy aisle and found 5 riddler racers so bought 2 and used points/coupons to get them so cheap.

I'm so used to copypasta "Lego xxxxx" into Google that I figure it was second nature to you all too. I won't be lazy next time ?

3x Speed Champions Mercedes 75883 (the big one) £28 each.

6x Speed Champions Ford GT 2 pack £14 each.

From the eBay store of a reputable online Lego seller, willing to bet a fiver that they get cancelled if anyone wants to take that bet! (I get items, I pay you).

I can rule out Argos and TRU straight away as they are NOT reputable. The Entertainer?

I'll bet you £1 that they won't all be mint if from Argos or TRU ;-)

Haha, no definitely not. Jadlam Racing Models. Don't hear much about them, just meant it wasn't some guy with a back of the lorry job ;)

Just had my first cancellation request though, they didn't even bother to write in a reason so I declined it! Not like I can make them send me them anyway, they cocked up the price on their actual website as well so probably got hammered.

Bought a couple of 41005 at £27.85 from Tesco Direct. Took one back today to release the cash for a different set. The lady scanned it, and it came up at £8.50. Gor the £27.85 refund and bought it back again at £8.50. Very strange experience!

I hope you went to a different checkout to re-buy it to save face ;-)

You can now QFLL it on eBay for £11.49 to make £1.

Tesco's pricing it a little messed up these days as I've seen 75111 Darth Vader on the shelf for £10.34, it scanned £24.99 at the checkout so, back it went! I bought the last one from Sainsburys in the end for £12.49. It was only a present for a mate's son.

It reminds me of John Lewis in Reading who often have 2 different prices on some shelves for the same product. If you take a photo of both prices before going to the checkout, they'll honour the lowest one. It's been happening for weeks and they've still done nothing about it.

Oh... JRM... Tesco's >RRP partner - LOL. If only they would honour a mis-price like Tesco & Asda would.

'Never knowingly undersold' aka ignorance is bliss.

Their prices do seem to be a bit all over the place. Was worth a dabble anyway.

Not really into quick flips, but sellers are selling for £33+ on Amazon.

I'll keep hold for now. Maybe some Friends sets will out-perform the much hoarded Star Wars!

You should do OK. I admit, I was tempted by the 41122 at 50% off from LEGO, but it will take while for the QFLLs to die down. Think there's been some recent improvement in the Friends theme so some sets at 50% off may be worth a punt. Of course, never at RRP though ;-) As for Star Wars, there's simply too much competition and too long a wait to make anything worthwhile. It's a real shame that the recent UCS sets haven't done too well.

I'm going to keep an eye on the market during this year to see if I can get any better at spotting the gems and the short-runs. Of course, I'll still jump on any hugely mis-priced item... hard ;-)

I've got another 41105 (separate order) that I am taking back to a different Tesco today for a £27 refund. Be interesting to see if that store has it at £8.50. The assistant yesterday says it happens quite a lot with toys. Local stores have a significant discount to clear items - I guess they manually adjust their prices. Perhaps they forget to put the price back.

Makes me tempted to order several different sets from Tesco Direct and take them all back to a store for a refund just to see what the in-store prices are. But that'll be taking the p1ss! I wouldn't want to be 'banned' from Tesco Direct, if they ever ban buyers like Lego does.

Tesco make some clangers. About 12 months back they sent me two XBox ones by mistake. I returned one as I didn't feel comfortable. However back in early November I had a stock alert set-up for Nintendo Mini NES Classic. They took the item off-line, but I could still see stock through My Stock alert on my account when stock came back in. I flipped 5 of the things when no where else had any - probably could have done a lot more. No such repeat sadly.

Indeed they do drop some clangers and it redefines the term QFLL but, we don't have an "unethical" thread for stuff like this ;-)

Tesco WILL ban you if you extract the urine as I was warned when I went in "slightly-large" during pre-Xmas 3-for-2 sales. I was very lucky to get away with the £8 Friends buses and £11.33 Spaceports which I flipped immediately for 3x in cash.

Asda are also good for clangers and it's worth looking George up once in a while.

I once ordered 6 Agents Helicopters at £36 each right before they dropped the price to £24, they wouldn't give me the difference back so I made a new order and returned the other ones. They ended up sitting on the shelves at RRP for a year being way bigger than anything that store actually stocks before they were eventually clearanced for 75% off, Sadly I missed them or I would have took them again!

You could probably get away with it for a small amount of sets that it's not worth to send back to the warehouse, but I doubt Tabby's loads of 100 sat around in the store. I think it takes a lot to get banned from Tesco because they used to (maybe still do?) have a problem with people buying items on the 'buy X get 1000 clubcard points' getting the points, and then never collecting the items.
