The price would have to fall quite a bit for me to lose money on them. The individual I bought them from always provides sets in 3 layers of bubble wrap so its a pretty easy transition to selling them. 1 Quote
TANV Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 In the spirit of @Sfcommando14, I took went to the nearby BAM and got myself two 21022 Lincoln Memorials for $50. The perks of visiting family in the Midwest. Now, to find a way to get these things home. That's tricky right there... 1 Quote

Was the IR showing on stock checker online? I had recent success with a Pet Shop tucked away up top at Smyths, they couldn't believe I had spotted it Got them in Asda, don't think it's national as I tried a couple of other stores to see if they had them but no luck. The IR was oos according to their stock checker, I only saw it as a member of staff was getting a city cargo train down and there it was so thought it would be rude not to take it home. 1 Quote
arien101 Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 (edited) Total newbie to buying bricks as an investment. So far I only bought stuff I wanted to build or as presents for my kids. I'm obviously still completely clueless, but I bought myself a spaceport, van & camper as well as some Mr. T and Stay Puft Fun Sets for 30-35% off RRP (which I assume means regular retail price?). If all else fails I'll have some fun sets to build with the kids :-) Anyways. Was fun to give it a first go. Edited December 23, 2016 by arien101 2 Quote

Don't pay full retail UNLESS you want any of the LEGO Shop At Home Freebies OR the set is exceedingly rare due to retirement OR severely high demand due to miscellaneous reasons like hoarding, limited production runs, or popularity. Welcome to the madness. 2 Quote
firstofminifigs Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 Don't go full retail! Don't pay full retail Did something I NEVER do tonight. I bought two Mystery Machines at RRP at Walmart. Wanted them to pair with the mansions. Left two on the shelf. Maybe I'll get them when they clearance but didn't want to risk it. Quote
Leopard Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 Found a scooby doo mystery mansion in my TRU hidden behind some angry birds legos, haven't seen one in person and they price matched it for $83, figure I'll gamble and see what happens next year Quote

Nice find! That reseller sticker is a PITA to get off. Be careful, I cut myself the other day trying to remove it from my Ariel Palace set. 1 Quote

Ordered recently from them and got items with those pesky things. Quote

emazers Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 The Barnes and Noble stickers take a lot more time to remove than any other ones. You really have to go slow. 1 Quote

Martae54 Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 Ferris wheel for $164 after tax. I can't make myself NOT buy it for that. I have too many weaknesses. 1 Quote
