What Lego set did you buy today?

Recommended Posts

Bought Lego Dimensions Doctor Who and 1x C3PO polybag.

What a mess trying to buy.  First off - I hate this time of year, as TRU is manning registers with newbies and freeze at the mention of a coupon or a gift with purchase.  Second, the computer wouldn't let her run the Dimensions because it's release date is Tuesday.  That's fine, but why have it out on the floor unless you're going to sell it (I know, I know, we've all been there, I have too). Obviously, they went ahead and sold it to me, after getting an okay from the manager.

Next, she had to call her manager about the 3PO polybag.  She brought one over.  I asked if I could buy two more - I had both my kids with me - nope.  No go.  Meanwhile, California92563 was in the same TRU earlier today and heard the manager telling all his cashiers that they were available for sale.

This particular TRU is the most conservative of the three I go to.  I obviously need to hit a different one tomorrow.

Short story, hopefully entertaining (and reminiscent of a Goodwill lot Alpinemaps found/lost earlier in the thread [sorry for bringing that up!])...

These days, CL deals don't come as often/easy and finding a truly 'rare' set is even more difficult. That's why my eyes nearly jumped out of their sockets when I saw this photo on a $50 listing for 8 lbs of bulk locally:

Thankfully, no one else had contacted the seller almost four hours later (an eternity of time for a decent Lego lot listed in my area) and I made arrangements to pick it up as soon as I could. After 5-10 minutes of sifting through and grabbing most of the related pieces in the lot, I have this bin of pieces from 10190 Market Street:

I'm pleasantly surprised by how much of the set I ended up with (even though many of the hard to find pieces are missing). As a collector who has bricklinked Cafe Corner and a Sand Blue Grocer, this is a very welcome 'head start' to wrapping up the last modular I needed to complete my street. Last week I found a Black Pearl & QAR (no minifigs) plus several other sets for $85, so I'm hoping this run of finding rare/valuable sets on CL continues!

White House came out in 2010 so it's due a retirement. I'm hoping this is its last, it's also sold out at a couple of UK retailers. Brandenburg gate is very likely, it's part of the new Berlin architecture set scheduled for release next year.

In the US the limit at LEGO Shop at Home is 99.

I think I had a JACKPOT!!!!!

Yesterday I accumulate in my shopping card: 50% of my LEGO purchases, making a total of 88,32€ (due to 50% campaign in all toys during this weekend).

Today I went to the shop again and look what I found: http://i.imgur.com/I0c6vv1.jpg (x2)

So, I used the 88,32€ I already had in the shopping card from yesterday and only paid 71,66€ for both instead of 159,98€, and accumulate 50% in the card again and now I have 80,00€ in the card.

Can anyone help me do the calculations? Because I paid 71,66€ and accumulate 80,00€ in the card. They paid me 8,34€ to get the 2 sets? :P
