What Lego set did you buy today?

Recommended Posts

Now shipping out free promos, when the sets are oos and may not ship at all, well thats just kinda foolish.

As with pretty much every loophole, this one will most likely be plugged, if taken advantage of.  Another example of the actions of a few affecting the outcome for many.

As a side, this seems like a really expensive way for LEGO Shop at Home to do business. They have to split my order in half, deal with two orders that both ship free, and pack and ship two difference parcels at different times. Just seems like a silly business practice (and an expensive way to deal with out of stock items).....I'm waiting for the 13th to buy anything else, I want my train!

I ordered a Sea Cow and Tumbler tires yesterday. It's all in wareouse with the exception of the tiger offer which already shipped. Talk about waste on shipments...

I don't know a solid answer to this, but I'm going to say "kinda". It seems like if you trigger a review at SAH, they could certainly look up your B&M purchases that you have made with the same VIP card and use that against you. If you really want to be safe, maybe skip using your VIP at B&M. But what fun is that? Maybe a friend or relative has a little used VIP card that you could use at B&M? I put mine in an iPhone app (cardstar) so I can bring it up on my phone for a quick scan at checkout. I'm not advocating creating false duplicate VIP cards, but you can certainly get creative.

Do you think that if you keep to the limits at S&H and not trigger a review they prob wouldn't notice what you did at the B&M? The funny thing is in the past Id get maybe 2-3 of any one set. Since finding this site and thinking about it more as a business, all be it a hobby business and not my full-time gig, that number has gone up to avg 3-5 per set. Funny how you buy more when you save on avg 30% on many of the sets - TRUTH. BTW that is Thurs and Sat now right?

Thanx

Does SAH care that you buy from the B&M stores as well? So if the limit is say 2 santas workshops from SAH and I go into a lego store and pick up 5 more do they care?

not just vip though that is an obvious one,  they can likely look up the credit card used and names on the account.  just depends on how much they find and if the guy reviewing your account makes the connections.  the general advice is proceed with caution, and avoid raising red flags.

I made a couple of runs today.

Lego B&M Store: Purchased 8 x ToT and 2 x Thanksgiving sets. The store manager held me at 2, but said I could buy all the ToT that I wanted.

TRU: I had a Wall-E to return. I purchased it full retail when it came out with no promotions. I bought one from FAO earlier this week, so didn't need it. I rolled my $60 refund into a Lonely Mountain that was minty on the shelf. I added a quick smoosh Tiger Lady and Skeleton Suit. I used a 15% off, and got a free Bricktober Hotel. Not the best, but I'm OK with it. That full retail Wall-E was nagging at me, so I'm glad I rolled it into something else. I don't have a TRU CC, so I can't get in on the TRUTH fun. I'm trying hard to avoid opening an un-necessary line of credit. Not sure how long I can hold out.

BTW: I was prepared to use the digital phone 15% from the TRUTH post. But when I was returning Wall-E, I politely asked if the cashier had any coupons. She had one tucked under the register. it was a salmon colored 15%. She didn't give it to me, so I don't know the details of it. She just said "come back through this counter, and I'll take care of it".
