What Lego set did you buy today?

Recommended Posts

Man, been striking out big on getting a mystery machine but went to pineville target and found 2 on shelf!!  Been jonesing for this set.  Bought only 1 so someone else can have some joy too.  Also bought the batman harbor set because no collection can be complete without a sweet deathstroke figure in my humble opinion.  After a rough day, this was some sweet relief.

I decided to stop by a Goodwill store on my way to dinner and as I walk through the door, right on front on top of a glass case was a UCS Slave 1. Price was $99. I was able to open the box and verify all the bags were there (and sealed) so I picked it up. I got a 10% off discount so got it for $96 after tax, Afterwards I went to a Lego store (also on the way to dinner) and stumbled upon the whole JW line. Picked up 5 Raptor Rescapes. I consider this trip a success

Picked up a kijiji deal yesterday.  Deal I wish I did not make LOL.  Newbie lesson here, thought I rant a bit.

Deal was for 75lbs of bulk Lego, no boxes or instructions, no mini figs.  I am embarassed to reveal what I paid, $350 CAD.

turned out there were over 5lbs of Megablocks, 10lbs of Lego that have been painted!  Seriously, who paints Lego???????

The time I have spent sorting, and will spend on cleaning is making this a big regret.  Anyone want to buy 60lbs of Lego?  haha.  Rant over.  thanks for reading.

Do not worry. The same thing happened to me last year. I got carried away and I bought a lot of 70's and 80's lego for way too expensive. When I came home it appeared all to be either stinky, broken and chewed on. 350 euro that I simply had to write off.

The comforting thing is that it won't happen to me again!

Indeed!  Lesson learned for me.

I contemplated bailing on the deal, but felt obligated to go through with it because the seller drove 3 hours to deliver it to me.  I compensated him for the transport costs, but it would not have been right to change my mind, even though the product was not what he described.  We agreed on a lower amount and that was that.

My wife is mocking me as we both sift through this pile in the wee hours of the night LOL.

Vader888, I liked your post because I enjoy reading out here and this is a good story, not because of your situation.  Good luck...

I know what you mean, I enjoy reading others experiences as well and hope to learn from them.

I got back into Lego just a few months ago and had some success getting new exclusive sets at good discounts.....can't win them all :)

Picked up another Mystery Machine ($8.20) and Raptor Rampage ($27 + free socks for the kids) at Kmart.  It seems like ever time I use a $15 back in points coupon they send me another, plus more surprise points and coupons every week.  Oh well guess ill just have to wait and see what comes in the boxes.  Though the first MM I ordered came in pristine, as have most of my mid sized sets from KMart.

I grabbed 2 Scooby Doo planes today and used $5 off $35 and used points to pay.  The Carnage, Sandman, and Bat Harbour sets I ordered the other day came in a nice sized back and surrounded by packing peanuts, A+.

20.99, then another 10% off all clearance toys.

ok thanks. I'll have to check mine tomorrow. There is also a $10 off $50 coupon right now which should also stack. Too bad 15% senior day was this past Wednesday. That would have been the perfect storm of Shopko clearance awesomeness.

If you buy three to get over $50 they should come out to 48% off if my math is correct.

the 10% was through the 15th so if there's anything left around you, you could try next Wed.

Are you sure there's a 10 off 50 currently?---I checked my email---didn't see one.

I've got one good from 8/1-8/31. I just took a closer look at it and it's for my "anniversary" of being a card member. It's account specific. I must have signed up last August. Senior day is only the first Wednesday of every month, not every wednesday unfortunately.
