What Lego set did you buy today?

Recommended Posts

My local Target re-stocked the cash register areas where they put the polybags with Series 13 blind bags. I ended up feeling out 9 hot dog guys and one unicorn girl. I would'be been able to get more unicorn girls if I had more time but I only had time to quick feel each bag for the hot dog guy. I found a lone hot dog guy sitting on one of the shelves too. Not sure if the person who put it there knew it was him or not.

3 Eiffel Towers on Amazon, saved a bit as got £10 off when spend £50

Tesco have their clubcard boost scheme on again so I doubled up my vouchers and got 3 Raptor Escapes (now have 10) and a Big Ben to make up to the value of the vouchers.

I took my wife with me yesterday to go pick up my MM's from Target. We stopped at a nearby TRU and noticed the employees filling one of those gravity fed end cap displays with some new series 13. I showed her how to smoosh, and we walked away with four more hot dog guys and two more unicorn girls, along with my 3 MM's.

Our kids weren't with us, so she felt kind of awkward since we are both in our mid thirties and were smooshing without any kids with us. That kind of thing doesn't phase me anymore.

I saw a young man and his mom smooshing packs at TRU once.  Don't be afraid to approach these folks.  They aren't all resellers.  I asked them if they found any Lincoln or Wyldstyle and they handed me one of each from their pile. LEGO fans are good people even if some of them try to convince some of us that the opposite is true.

I really like this comment.  Well said. Seriously.

Someone should take it ,package it, and sell it.

I feel more awkward smooshing when I have my kids with me, than when I'm by myself.

Good. No need to feel awkward of feeling up little bags with tiny people inside. ....Well, that just sounded weird. Anywho, I usually find the Collectable Minifigures at Target and from standing there for periods at a time ended up getting to know a couple more of the employees there. Funny how the conversations start with "Looking for a specific character?" followed by "Oh and you can figure out who's in there? That's cool." sort of response.

I had $52 in Amazon rewards. It helps that we still get wipes, diapers and coffee through their subscribe and save program

Was just was about to buy the 10237 ToO but just couldn't pull the trigger (6 were left at the time).  Maybe since I already have some stashed away and I'm not  super duper high on the set.  My next choice as denied.  the UCS Sandcrawler was sold-out.

I ended up buying 2 UCS tumblers.

My dry spell of not scoring any decent Craigslist deals has finally ended. I think it lasted about six months. Picked up loose Delorean and Ecto-1 complete with manual and boxes for $35 each. Really nice guy. He said he just sold a loose PR and PC (with box and manuals) for $220. I can't believe I missed that one! Oh well, I still got a decent deal though.

Is a loose Ecto-1 for $35 a good deal, or was it just that you had to buy that to get the DeLorean?

You got it right. I bought the $35 loose Ecto-1 first and then negotiated on the Delorean. He was asking $50 and then said, "Well, I paid $35 for it, so I guess you can have it for $35." I learned that from American Pickers. Buy something at their asking price first to break the ice and then negotiate on other stuff.

The loose Ecto for $35 was ok with me. It keeps me from opening a new set and allowing me to have a built one in my collection.

If anyone starts saying they've learned lessons from Storage Wars then we know this place has gone to hell in a handbasket
