What Lego set did you buy today?

Recommended Posts

Picked up my craigslist deal today. Buddy threw in an extra two Castle systems, 70402 and 70403 (the latter is missing the dragon maxi fig sadly) on top of the 100% complete Helms Deep. Felt like it was a decent deal.

Also visited the local Oakridge Lego store and picked myself up a Parisian Restaurant cashing in $100 VIP points. Scored my Winter Soldier.

As a quick recon for other Vancouverites, I took a look at some often sought after items that were in store. 2 Tower Bridges with seal code 43R4 on the shelf, 2 Tower of Orthanc with 12R5 on the shelf. About 50 Ecto1s on the shelf. No Pet Shop or Cinema to be seen, asked and the employee said he was sceptical on whether they'd ever see the PS again, but was hopeful another run of PC would come in store. He mentioned something about Lego doing the dance with PS, and they (shop employees) were expecting it to get a Retired label any day. No Ferris Wheels or T-Rex Trackers either, sold out in store and online.

Edit: Oh, and no modular damaged box sets currently available. They had a couple from other themes but I wasn't interested so didn't inquire too deeply.

Edit 2: Read Cali92563's post and was reminded. I was at the Coquitlam ToysRUs yesterday, and they had multiple case packs of S13 CMF. Nearly bought one, but did a quick budget count and couldn't pull it off right now. Hopefully someone else can take advantage before they're gone forever.

Finally broke down and purchased my first 2 Palace Cinema and UCS X-Wing sets.  I still think the UCS Sandcrawler is the sleeper of the recent UCS SW sets.   Original trilogy Jawa toys have historically done well excluding the Hasbro / Kenner 1990s stuff.  We are like a cult.

I can't explain how, because I didn't write the SYWR program, but I bought 2x MInecraft 'The Cave' and 2x 'The Farm' for $55 shipped.  I reduced the cost by spending $24 in points plus surprise points and earned $23 back.

I hope for some beautiful drapes to replace my blinds with.

I'm not sure what sets I bought. Bulk lot Just over 65 lbs and 191 mini figs. Looks like a Dino T. rex set and queen Anne's revenge with the dark red sails. Bunch of Indy and Star Wars as well. Ok. Here we go.

try to take inventory ASAP. manuals included?  It definitely helps knowing the theme for building sets as you can use Bricklink or Brickset for figuring out sets by searching on non-"dime a dozen" type / color bricks and / or minifigs

The only manual is for Vampyre castle. I'll keep posting on my discoveries.

I think you need an "I LOVE LEGO" badge.

You may be right!

I'm a bit nervous about buying so many x-wings.  I never intended to be an investor, and I don't think I am....but for some reason I went crazy with the x-wing.  Perhaps it will cover the costs of my collection.  I have built most of them, and purchased a second/third set so I can have a brand new one still in box.

The collecting/hunting for harder to get sets has become quite addictive.  Also, the building process is quite fun and therapeutic.

you might want to create a separate thread for your bulk purchase.  i can help.

just a side note: since you were away from Lego for 30 years, you might want to slow down with the purchases if investing.  if you are building, then go at your own speed and happy building.  investing isn't for everyone (regardless how much you love Lego).

Thanks for the tip.  I don't plan on investing.  When I buy, I will buy an extra set so I can have a brand new one to keep (the xwing is the exception).  The building part is the most fun.  30 years sounds like a long time, but I'm not that old.  I recently turned 40.  I am mainly interested in Star Wars sets, particularly the larger sets.  Now I may get into the modules.

Nice job with the Unimog so cheap. Was it  a shop deal or a private sale?

Thanks! It was a shop. They had another one. But it was pretty beat up. If I sell this one swiftly I will go and pick up the other as well.
