bricketycricket
I wouldn't say I "bought" it today per se, but I placed an order for a Pet Shop. Fate will decide whether or not I actually end up buying it, I guess.
trekgate502
I'm assuming you had tinted windows all the way around? Otherwise, that would've been a sight to behold...at least one for thieves. LOL Did you manage to take a pic after the last stop? Well mid way between large cities, no tinted windows and I had one large blanket and it was not covering much so I stopped at all things of a Walmart and bought a $9.00 bed sheet, fitted bed sheet and pillow case pack and proceeded to cover everything in the van... So at least I felt better about it whether it made a difference or not. I meant to take a picture of the grocery cart of 10695's and I meant to take a picture of the two grocery carts that were 12 of the grimlocks (all full) but I forgot. I have many fond memories on this trip including some very good Sbarro pizza, plenty of cups of McDonald's coffee, and I am stopping in enough Walmarts lately I am a subway fan but never have eaten Subway in Walmart's until the last few weeks and they are just as good, sometimes the bread a little dry. Yea, seriously picture next time. lab freak sorry I'll try better. If you look in the other toys thread you'll see the 25 grimlocks but I did not photo the lego! Ciglione
From my 15 hour road trip throughout 2 states... So everyone knows about a week ago or so I strategically started checking the Walmart's for inventory via the mobile app. I ordered a lot online for pickup, some cancelled, some adjusted quantity and many ok for pickup and i concentrated on Walmart's that would be on a specific route that I was focused on a specific corridor of Interstates and what would work in that corridor... I actually with the exception of the 34 Lego brick boxes found NOTHING at any of the Walmart's that I did not already pre order. Of the 8 Walmarts I went in most every one of them was in major wind down mode on clearance. There were a few good non Lego toys but I literally had my mini van stuffed to the gills including the passenger seat up front to the ceiling along with the 2nd row and the rest of the van. For me with this trip, I consider the non online clearance hunting season over. My haul was as follows: Combination of Walmart's, Fry's, Meijer's Toys R Us and Lego Stores: - 9 Benny's @ $54 Walmart - 2 Lion Chi Temple @ $35 Walmart - 25 Transformers Stomp and Chomp Grimlock at $8.50 and $17 Walmart - 2 Ewok village at MSRP and double points Lego - 1 Death Star at MSRP and double points Lego - 10 Lonely Mountains 1 at Meijer $97ish, 5 @ 97ish Toys R Us price matching Meijer receipt (I asked them told them upc code on receipt, meijer has a sale, will they match or prefer not to, is there a limit and they said sure honey we match and there is no limit) and 4 from Lego on sale with double points - 34 Lego 10695 @ $20 each Walmart - 1 Lord Business Lair @ $52 Fry's - 1 Arctic Base Camp at $45 Walmart Plus a few other misc things... And some good times visiting some good friends at some of the stores along the way... Many people read books, many people watch TV or got to Movies, for me this hobby is my stress relief so it was a great day and the time investment could have been spent doing other things yes but its my books, movies, etc stress reliever for me. You are living the brickpicker dream. I am planning a big roadtrip as well. I found out that the planning alone already is alot of work! No More Monkeys
That's a lot of volume! I trust you have a big vehicle! (I keep wanting to start a "what kind of LEGO carrying vehicle do you drive?" thread, but haven't gotten around to it) I believe latest round of "cleansing" took care of such irrelevant threads. Or you are implying that having Lego in the name of the thread would keep it "under radar"?
JoshB
So I stopped by my local Walmart and they have about 50 lego creative building box sets #10695 for $20 each. Should I pick these up and flip them or what would you recommend?

No More Monkeys
Look at ebay sold listings and you shall find your answer. I don't think for this particular set sold listings could provide any guidance. Statistically not significant, especially given overseas sales

IMO this is a buy and hold for a little bit. Too many choices out there with the XXL and CS still flooding the market. On top of the regular release Ideas Box sets. How does suggesting he research it himself before asking here not show any guidance? Edited March 17, 2015 by Migration

It is and on a sunny day with great music or news, great food and friendly people and Lego you can have a lot of fun!Lol that's ok. Marathon run, hard to stop and admire the view I was so upset as I finished loading the grimlocks and realized I forgot a two cart photo but yes it was fast and furious and a blast.

How does suggesting he research it himself before asking here not show any guidance? I think he meant the listings wouldn't show any guidance. Just glancing at the sold listings it looks like most if not all are from international sellers.

How does suggesting he research it himself before asking here not show any guidance? Maybe I am looking at wrong set. I see 8 (eight) sold listings. All of them from non-USA and it is not known what country the buyer was from. $55 is not relevant at this point if seller is in USA and buyer is in USA. The only thing you can speculate is that most non-investor types(i.e. slickdeals crowd) consider 10 cents per piece to be a fair price for unused generic bricks, but not necessarily in near term. Well, as long as we are not talking about them weird blue boxes Edited March 17, 2015 by No More Monkeys

legodelorean
I bought two Ecto-1 sets last night off of ebay. $44 each, free shipping and no tax. I'm happy with the price since these haven't really been discounted anywhere. It seems like when people are selling multiple sets and you want to buy more than one they seem to be okay with a bit of a lower offer since you are buying more than one. At least that has been the case with me.
jaxman
That's a good price for Ecto-1. I plan on loading up on these but can't seem to talk myself into buying a bunch at full retail yet. So far I've only got one.

I have found some good deals on eBay.TRU stores used to carry them at MSRP (not sure if they still do), so you could have used TRUTH and discount GCs and other legitimate magic
