What Lego set did you buy today?

Recommended Posts

It may be due to the fact that I haven't ever seen them in person to compare, but I stand by my original statement that they look fairly similar.

I was fortunate enough to see a shuttle night launch first hand in 1995. Lift off was after midnight and for twenty seconds the night sky was as bright as noon. It was a truly amazing experience, I am truly saddened at the current state of the U.S. space program (or lack there of). At any rate go see one of the remaining shuttles in their museums, once you see one up close you'll get it.

It was a thing of beauty.  I was in Florida at Daytona Beach and watched the very first shuttle launch become visible after the first couple of minutes from launch.  I do not remember exact details.

Very humbling and today I am very sad for the space program.

I wish they would go all out and relaunch the Orion and Ares programs but I am afraid it is all over with for quite some time.

If you are fine with getting a new version it is coming out in August for $99.99, set number 60080. Pictures: http://www.bricksandbloks.com/lego-spaceport-60080-summer-2015-set-photos-preview/

Honestly, it looks pretty similar to the previous version to me, so I'd just wait for the new one to drop a tad in price ($100 for 586 pieces anyone?).

Ummm... If you can look at 60080 and think it looks comparable to 10213 or 10231 you may want to consult an optometrist ASAP.

I'm sure he meant comparable in basic similarity and not exact which to a degree they are. The newer shuttle is comprised of mainly large curved bricks whereas the former was more standard pieces with a select number of rounded wedges. Funny thing is the older Shuttle Expedition at retail contained twice as many parts as this new Spaceport while the new set is more expensive with half the pieces. What a cruel joke. I would maybe pay $80 for the Spaceport but $120? What are they smoking....

I was going to wait and pick these all up at Lego for double points over the weekend but Toy R Us is having an actual sale for once so i saved a lot more than if i had bought at Lego. I ordered:

75046 Coruscant Police Gunship $43.99

75051 Jedi Scout Fighter $47.99

75058 MTT $71.99
75080 AAT $19.99
75081 T-16 Skyhopper $19.99
75082 TIE Advanced Prototype $31.99
75083 AT-DP $39.99
75090 Ezra's Speederbike $15.99
Used my coupons and also got free shipping. Saved around $70. If i had bought at double points at Lego i would have only gotten $30-ish. These were all for my collection and not for resale. So i am happy to have saved a bit. :)

I'm amazed that you're still able to find MFs.

One of my local TRUs still has some in the "extra" piles on top of the shelves but at a markup to $200 CDN, I'm hoping they have another sale. I bought a bunch last time they went 20% off and sold all of them in about 4 weeks for a decent little profit.
