I also buy a lot of these when I see them for pennies as they are great sweeteners when sent with a set that may have a tiny speck of dust on the box ;-)  I used to have a friend at WH Smith who used to give me bag loads of ex-newspaper promo polybags.

Paid a few pounds for this 1960s set at a local Car Boot Sale. Not sure of its value (Bricklink has one without the booklet for £15 but can't find it elsewhere). Really interesting box and booklet. Everyone else was haggling over low-end Star Wars sets.

Wow... the good old days when LEGO was just..... LEGO ;-)

I'll never forget that wonderful smell when opening a set for the first time and having a good sniff. Wasn't that one of the great smells of childhood?

Usual suspects at TRU couldn't pass up Nexo at 60% off.

Boscovs had 20% of select themes today Friends elves SW and more Emma's was marked down to $59.98 so $47

emma's is cash money with low seller count and apparently unhoarded.  lovin' the $35 sets i pinched my nose and shelf swiped last summer.  lowest FBA $108.

I ended up winning 2 auctions for the Celebration Detention Block Escape sets with early bids that I completely forgot to cancel (too many coaching t-ball games & 1 on 1 drills with my son) .  However,  I bought the day Celebration ended. Unlike other Celebration and SDCC Lego items, this one never really bottomed out near the end of the 1st week after the release ( stayed above $190 on avg).  Ended paying $180, 182 and $185 w/ shipping.

Still a good chance prices will hit $180 on avg this week for this looking,

I'll be cracking open one of them after my current business trip for a build review blog or post

Today I have finally decided to subscribe to the B&N membership and saved the first 5 dollars out of 25 to amortize the membership cost

got an extra 10% off by asking if I could get any small discount for the set being a bit damaged (it never hurts to ask) - I already have a good condition copy at home that I have not opened yet hoping for a  used or bad NIB unit coming up

I left plenty of Flatirons at this store (all the low hanging clearance fruits have been picked up by fellow BP members - I feel like they left this Trevi on purpose for me little BP newbie)

then went to run some errands for wife and noticed there was another B&N in the same shopping area

these two were kind of hidden (again left plenty of Flatirons and other retired stuff)

saved 11 dollars via membership so today I have amortized 5+11=16 out of 25 dollars of membership

need to save 9 more dollars and will break even on the yearly membership cost

Not sure what you are amortizing, that's a direct write-off in my books.

I bought this lot off of Craigslist. The seller listed the Lego truck and I emailed him to see what else he had.  This is what he brought.  3 have instructions.  He was asking $60 and I bought it for $40... Maybe 15-20 cents on the dollar which is higher than I like, but the sets are near complete and already built (separated).  Like nearly every other seller I find on CL he "just sold a set last week... I think it was Green Grocer" lol.  There's also a bag of 8 Toy Story figs ~$5-10 @.  Lego truck is missing all sticker parts, but I have half of them in stock.  About 10-12 parts missing total between the sets.

Monster Fighters - Mummy

Monster Fighters - Werewolf

Monster Fighters - Vamp Hearse

Monster Fighters - Crazy Scientist

Lego Delivery Truck - needs $5-10 in parts

Toy Story - Pizza Planet

Creator Log Cabin

Last night I picked up 6211 Imperial Star Destroyer (2006) and 8039 Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser from LetGo.  The gentlemen was only about 10 minutes drive from my house (love not having to drive a few hours ha!).  The 8039 seems complete and had all 5 minis.  The 6211 was missing a couple green bars from outside guns and one blue radar from the engine that I could tell so far.  It was also missing the mouse droid and one Imperial Guard.  He gave me an extra Officer, but not a duplicate Kepi (had more of a admiral style ribbons on torso, so I will have to research it more as the head and helm looked the same as Kepi though, maybe a mix/match).  I was told all this prior to meeting, so no surprises when we met.

I got both for $80 each.  He also had the manuals and boxes for both too that are in pretty good shape (not flattened and torn).  For my collection, I felt it was a pretty good price.  He states he has more SW sets for sale and he will update me later.  He told me some, but I'm not interested for my collection.

What are all you guys gonna do when Kmart finally shuts the doors ??

First issue: what are you going to with your extra 5 hours a week you're saving from not having to figure out Kmart's uber complicated rewards system?

Second issue: what retailer is going to let you shop at their store and take merchandise off their hands for a net loss now?

On first issue: I gave up trying to figure out their system some time ago, I just go with the flow :)

2nd issue: stop talking nonsense! Kmart forever!

Yes, I'll probably shut the doors.

Ignore the heretics fellow SYWer. Don't let them plant their treasonous ideas in your head, and let us continue to pledge ourselves to the teachings of fast Eddie the wise. LONG LIVE KMART! LONG LIVE SHOP YOUR WAY!

And with "Long" we mean ... until our next points can be utilized. Carpe Diem.

I have to give them credit, I hadn't set foot in a Kmart in 20 years until I started slingin' in Lego. Now I have office furniture, a nice wooden table and all the disposable cups I can use from Kmart. It's my go to for anything disposable, like toothpaste and deodorant.

The Smart Choice brand styrofoam coffee cups are some much better than the Dixie variety. I stocked up too. I want that deal to come back.

I got lucky with another Craigslist find today. I paid $125, so not the deal of the century, but still some gems, especially since some / most will be for my personal collection. More or less in increasing order of value (all used)

  • A couple of pick a brick containers filled with random parts and a 32 x 32 base plate
  • 6913 Blue Roadster (Complete with Instructions)
  • 7288 Mobile Police Unit (Complete vehicle but missing some accessories, no instructions)
  • 4431 Ambulance (Complete vehicle but missing some accessories, no instructions)
  • 5766 Log Cabin (Complete with Instructions)
  • 7346 Seaside House (Complete with Instructions)
  • 4996 Beach House (Complete with Instructions)
  • 5891 Apple Tree House (Complete with Instructions)
  • 10216 Winter Village Bakery (Complete with Instructions)
  • 10229 Winter Village Cottage (Complete with Instructions)

The first few sets will head to eBay, but I'll definitely enjoy building the houses and will probably keep a couple (if not all) of them. The obvious real scores are the two Winter Village sets. We don't have either of them, so I'm pretty pumped about getting these in such good shape for a good price!
