speedsausage Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 This is my 2nd/3rd visit to a LEGO store. It's awesome to be able to see the big exclusives set up. The Sea Cow is quite impressive live. I would definitely agree with the sea cow. They have one built at my lego store and it is way more impressive than the picture on the box! Quote

I picked up a Sea Cow to build, only after I saw it in person. The thing is impressive. I can't wait to build it. I think the set has the potential to be huge EOL. Quote

emazers Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 Every Long Term Investor should have at least 5 or more Sea Cows for Investment, As people will be watching the Lego Movies on DVD for many years down the road. So its not that this Set will just vanish and everybody will just forget about it. Now there is plenty time to get this set, but starting next year it would not hurt to pick one up now and then. And don't forget about the Simpson House to, along with other Exclusives these 2 will do very good once retired. Ed 4 Quote
speedsausage Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 My first impression of the COW was "Oh cool, it's taller than it is long". Also it looks like a good build. Quote
jaisonline Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 Haven't read the forum today so may already be discussed, but I'm building the Mini Cooper now and at the end of the first instruction book there's the expected modular street advertisement. The GE is not there, there's TH, PC and PR but interestingly there's no Pet Shop. Ha. Wouldn't it be "something" if the Pet Shop also retired? Many brickpickers aren't looking at that set yet. The focus is 100% GE. It would be fun to watch the frenzy. Sent from an iPhone using the Brickpicker app Quote
waddamon Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 Not everyone is ignoring this set. I have a good start 12, but won't push for a full allocation until mid year next year. The good news is that based on the sporadic stock of these big sets as they mear the end it seems that one would be able to add to their position if they are paying attention. Quote

Not everyone but "many". I'll be buying more of these myself next year. My latest 10211 TB arrived. Like said already, it will be interesting to watch the activity around this set once it begins selling out on shop@home before retiring. It's so past due. Quote
toycrazedchris Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 They (70810) have not been the easiest to find at a discount. Just last week Target finally went back in-stock and TRU just a few days ago. Not saying this is any sort of indication, just been tough to find at 10% off. I hate to buy these so soon, but this Movie series is so unique that I don't want to take any chances. BTW - Building one of these (from WHD) with my 7 yr. old daughter and it is a great build. Should be completed this weekend. Quote
jaisonline Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 Can people please list set names along with #s until the numbers alone are iconic or well-known like 10220, 10221, 10179, etc... 2 Quote

I am only looking for PS on eBay at the mo, and keep getting out bid. Concentrating on the GE, if PS does goes, I'll switch to the TH instead :) Quote
jaisonline Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 How about always, who cares if they're iconic. Yeah, that is better. I have no idea what set they are talking about above and I'm tired of googling set #s. Quote
legopocalypse Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 well you just need to scroll up and enter it in the brickpicker price guide and it will tell you without even having to click enter then just scroll back down to read the forum page. I agree it's still easier if everyone would just list the name to begin with. Quote

Sent from an iPhone using the Brickpicker app its been sold out on target and tru for over a week, both are easiest places to get a nice box and a small discount so I think folks are already stocking up on this. Guess I didn't think this was a forum faux pas. Only curious as he has 12 Pet Shops so I was interested in when the big investors made the move to other sets and at what percentage of the next logical retiring set he would have compared to GE Apologies for asking something that is not helpful to others. legodelorean Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 Do you guys think the Winter Village Market will retire soon? Wasn't sure how long it will stick around once Santa's Workshop is released this year. When is the best time to buy these sets? Quote

Wasn't sure how long it will stick around once Santa's Workshop is released this year. When is the best time to buy these sets? So far these sets retire at the end of their 2nd holiday season of availability. However, the first 2 sets (toy shop and bakery) were available for 3 holiday seasons. Since the winter market (10235) is currently available online, I think it will be around for at least the 2014 holiday season. Quote

I wouldn't be surprised if the Black (Brick) Friday promotions wipe out most/all of the stock.... Quote
