DoNotInsertIntoMouth Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 Comparing any set with a 6 year run 10 years ago and one now is silly. Just not even close to the same. Quote

LegoAidan Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 People who think 10188 will be a good investment will be disappointed, I think It'll be lucky to hit $600, I predict Tower Bridge to get up to $900 NIB, not as much as 10181 or 10189, but not horrible. Plus, I predict Sydney Opera House will bomb. Quote

trekgate502 Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 What makes you think this? I imagine it's the usual feelings most have of it is not ucs, it is not afol qualified, it is a kids toy, it is not to scale and I just don't like it. I like it. Not as much as SSD for resale, but personally I like it more for me, but the more people that don't want to get it is fine with me then there is more for those who want to save them. Quote

LegoAidan Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 If you think about it, there are tons of DS 10188 sets in the world, even compared to 10214. All the 10188's produced in the last 4 years, plus the other 2 years = not a good investment. Quote

Mathew Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 Plus, I predict Sydney Opera House will bomb. I don't know if it will bomb, but I think it's an ugly model. Quote
stephen_rockefeller Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 I'm giving all my DSs and SOHs to goodwill......these things are just gonna lose me money! Huge Star Wars and creator sets are losers. Quote

GhostDad Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 I'm giving all my DSs and SOHs to goodwill......these things are just gonna lose me money! Huge Star Wars and creator sets are losers. I set up a small lego-fired power plant in my backyard to burn 10188's for electricity generation; I can run a 100-watt lightbulb all day just on the energy stored in those couple dozen exclusive minifigures! 1 Quote

Guest TabbyBoy Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 Put it this way... I've decided to not reserve attic space for a 10188. I'll also not touch that hideous over-rated SOH. I also think it'll bomb. Quote
LegoAidan Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 I see you dialed your prediction back a bit, any reason for that? I realized how many were made, but I do think $1000 is possible Quote
rubysue74 Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 I see you dialed your prediction back a bit, any reason for that? I predict if you check back in 10 minutes, he will have changed his prediction 2 or 3 more times! 1 Quote
TheOrcKing Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 Hearing statements about the Tower Bridge blooming in retirement while the Sydney Opera House bombs sounds like a contradiction. Quote
LegoAidan Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 I predict if you check back in 10 minutes, he will have changed his prediction 2 or 3 more times! I didn't, but it's hard to tell with that set. Quote
rubysue74 Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 I didn't, but it's hard to tell with that set. That's the point. It's hard to tell with pretty much most sets. Otherwise, there would be zero risk involved. However, when your prediction about a sets EOL value changes from $600-$1000 in a matter of a few posts, it tends to take away any of the credibility of your "prediction". 1 Quote
