thought that was just when they went oos at LEGO Shop at Home though?  not always accurate by any means

Yes, there has stuff that's been gone for years and never marked retired, or still available at another retailer.

Any idea when 71040 (Disney Castle) will retire, year released: 2016?

Since LEGO has the Disney Licence, maybe for eternity, don't hold your breath.

I expect retiring this year after 3.5 years life, what is more than average. But - its a that kind of set, which life can be special - so I am giving just 50% on retiring this year. It can easy live next year, another year, etc. So it is very risky to buy it without "retiring soon" notice...

This set will be discounted for sure, just have to wait. It will not retire for at least 2 more years. I would not touch this set even with 25% discount, the risk is too big. Also huge box to store.

T1, Tower Bridge, and Disney Castle?

Alex, I’ll take “sets that won’t retire during this century” for $2000.

Alpine still says Minnie and Mickey bhz aren't retiring...   Oh wait

Now is a good time to buy with 2x VIP. I doubt this set gets discounted even with retirement potentially looming.

I bought it this week with 2x VIP points ?

Ravenb has spoken - let all other remarks be stricken from the record!

I've had two different stores tell me the Castle will be retiring this year, but they haven't been told an exact date.
