Cheese
He´s clearly been inhaling too much Doctor Who time machine plastic.Or he's built a life size tardis from all of the sets he bought from Tesco and gone into the future to find to his horror that it wasn't retired because of a recent spurt in sales caused by him! Lucky is maybe the wrong word considering it has sold 1 unit in USD in the last 6 months and 1 unit in all of August, September and October in Europe. I'm pretty new over here and just buy some stuff I like and believe are unique in some or other ways. Did that with Tumbler end of last year and that turned out quite well - I believe this Maze has what most other 'lego games' do not have: a simple but clean design, a cool mechanic and no minifigures for the sake of it I also wonder how many Tumblers were being sold mid 2015 on BL - not too many either I guess. Of course the Maze will probably never attain Tumbler status but still it gives a lot of interesting discussions over here and guess that's not such a bad thing after all... This unnecessary "movement" on the site disrupts reading every time and causes a bit of motion sickness almost (to me). And I fear if others follow, the site will soon be non-usable anymore because it'll be like something is blinking all over the page all the time. I know it's a lot to ask since it's your personal profiles, but maybe other users would welcome static images back, too. No offense intended, just trying to get rid of my incoming dizzyness...Thanks a lot in advance!!!

lego rules
I find it interesting how everyone knows how Pet Shop will turn out. I remember the same "way too many out in the wild", "been in production way too long", "too many resellers been buying them" about Fire Brigade and Grand Emporium.

I do not recall anyone saying here that he/she knows what will happen to Pet Shop after retirement. Just what people think. Which is just fine. Cause everyone has to decide if and how much to invest in Pet Shop. It is not buying like a chicken without a head anymore. Unfortunately. The current Modulars are going to be less popular than the Pet Shop (..and are). The good news is that one (or more) of the current and future Modulars could be a huge success, because people are moving away from them and they could retire early due to lack of sales. I knew that comment was coming the minute i read the remark PS is the most stockpiled set. Last thing you want is a wave of investors picking up recent modulars to anticipate disinterest... Keep it up and we'll have another record... It is Way too soon to buy any more modulars. People should WAIT and observe price action on the PS after retirement. And then we'll see how many PR, DO and BB will be bought. At least have some patience. That's what i do. (In fact - I m selling modulars, not buying)

Forsaker
How do you get those numbers? Does Lego release any data on how much of each set sells per year? Just wondering.

A perfect example of the lack of interest in sets is the current crop of "Retiring Soon" sets. They are all still readily available weeks after the designation was placed on them by LEGO. Similarly, there will be some Modulars that will benefit from the current apathy surrounding the theme.
Infiltrator
Sorry, a little bit off topic, but still interesting. Maybe all Pet Shops? This is for my german brickpickers - Lego sets were stolen on the german motorway A44. Similarly, there will be some Modulars that will benefit from the current apathy surrounding the theme. Instead of "apathy", I think the following is happening: - The influx of new AFOLs has reduced. Those who played with LEGO in the 70s and 80s are already out of their Dark Ages, and have done their catching up. LEGO Movie impact has also waned. - After 9 modular buildings, there aren't many people left who now discover that this line exists. Those that do buy what is available (PS, PC, PR, DO, BB makes for $1k in expense), and the sets that are no longer available are not that important if you already have a nice street. So less demand for the older sets. So net, the audience is there, it's just not growing (much) anymore, and those who do come in new have enough to pick from within what's available to be able to meet their initial desires. Now, should LEGO decide to end this line, things might be looking up again. These buildings are fantastic and if supply becomes fixed, prices will go up.

So less demand for the older sets. Since they release one modular per year like clockwork, they should retire one as well. And PS is long over due. Besides, the next release will be the biggest and most expensive one there was so far. Not saying it can't happen (never say never), but I don't see the signs that modulars are on a downslope.
