Guys, do you think that the Mini Cooper 10242 or the VW Camper 10220 will retire this year?
I need to spend my 100€ VIP points. :)

No and no - or even next year! ;-(

Then I will spend the money on two Ecto-1 sets. Thanks!
Another question: what about the wedding seasonals (40165) - any experience with such small sets?

Not sure about the wedding seasonals but, I've done OK with the small Thanksgiving, Christmas & Birthday. However, I did get them at 50% off. I think Ecto1 is a good choice as diehard fans always prefer the original movies eg. Star Wars ;-) I've bought lot of these!

"In America, Fans need to cluster together at conventions or with a small group of friends because it’s a place where they can talk about Doctor Who and share their passion for it, whereas in the UK you just do that at work. It’s in the papers. It’s a huge, popular show."

I've asked my coworkers today regarding Dr. Who, out of 23 ppl only 2 knew what i was talking about. Dr. Who is not popular in US.

Regarding the question how many out of 100 Germans know "Dr. Who", for 99 of them the name says it all.

Of course it's popular as you live in Britain.

That's what I mean.

Can many Americans name the actors who played the doctor over the last ten years without using a search engine?

Definitely not. I'm an American, 38 years old, huge Star Wars fan, child of the 80's / 90's.

I can tell you a few of the guys who played ewoks and jawas.

But i couldn't name one Doctor Who actor, or even give a reasonable explanation of what the show is about.

Which does not mean the set won't be a tremendous success, just that there is a very different level of awareness of the Doc here in the states.

I agree, but then again TLG has a ton of Star Wars sets, and (currently) only one Dr. Who set. If this one retires, it is unlikely we will get a new one anytime soon.

I could say the same about The Big Bang Theory and I don't know of a single person here who watches it ;-) I honestly can't tell what that show is about or even name anybody in it without asking Google. I can't commend or slate the show as I've never seen it.

It seems like I'm going against the grain here with what I've ordered and, judging by history, this can only be a good thing.

Following rampant success of retiring soon tag on Doctor Who, TLG have now decided that everything is retiring soon just to troll resellers and Tabby especially.

someone's bonus is on the line.  if russians are hacking hillary, TLG's gotta be "hacking" into the brickpicker antics by monitoring the forum.
