If folks are trying to state stuff as facts then a source would be greatly appreciated . If it is just an opinion then make that clear .no good reason to leave stuff hanging and folks scrambling .

I always love a good scramble

Sorry, you're wrong about there being a variation for the VW T1 Camper, where two different version were produced. In the case where you could select two different codes on LEGO Shop at Home it's because the VW T1 Camper not only got a simple box-redesign like Palace Cinema (same box format, different graphics with updated Expert Logo) but because the size of the box for the VW T1 Camper was also changed. That caused the resized & redesigned box to also get another item-code, hence the double item-code selection drop-down menu.

I had forgotten what the "redesign" for the VW Camper was, but according to this thread it was a couple of pieces on the front end of it. I was thinking that if TLG has to do a minor redesign like this, then they "retire" the set in-house before releasing the "redesigned" set (thus the reason for the two numbers on LEGO Shop at Home).

I can't think what they might redesign for PR, PC or PS... but who knows?

I could easily see Ewok Village being retired soon.  Here are some reasons.

First, Force Awakens sets are hitting.  It's a simple out with the old - in with the new.  They want shelf space for Reys Speeder etc. and Ewok Village is taking up that valuable brick and mortar shelf space.

Second, they have shown no reservations about retiring popular or iconic sets in the past.  The Star Destroyer was recently retired as well as the Ultimate Collectors X-Wing.

By the logic above, I see no good reason to NOT retire the Ewoks, put them to bed Lego, and let me make some money on these sets...

Which is the number of the Ultimate Collectors X-wing recently retired?

10240, excuse me

Here is an email from LEGO about the 10240: I asked if it would be back in stock. The Email is from Dec, 30th, 2015

Dear (Deleted),

Thanks for getting in touch with us.

It's great to hear you like the LEGO® Red Five X-wing Starfighter™.

It’s a very popular set and we’ve had a lot more orders than we expected. We don’t have any in stock at the moment, and we’re working hard to make more.

Our warehouse does not have a date when we will have this set back into inventory. If it is a set that you would like to add to your collection. You may still find it at a retailer in your area. We just don't have a set date yet.

If you don't want to wait for this particular set, we have plenty of other great sets that might inspire the LEGO builders in your family.

To see all the LEGO toys that have available now, visit LEGO.com/shop.

We want to make sure we're doing a good job for you, so you’ll always find the link to a four-question survey in our emails. Please tell us how we did today:

Please let us know if you need anything else.

Kind regards,

Donna

Doesn't sound retired to me? Thoughts?

If it's not retired then my mistake, I thought for sure I read somewhere that it was officially retired.

Also, it's listed as "retiring soon" on Lego Australia shop and I think also on the EU shop but for some reason i can't get to the website:

http://shop.lego.com/en-IT/Red-Five-X-wing-Starfighter-10240

Additionally, the Star Destroyer was retired as well right?  75055

If both of the above are retired and are just as iconic, if not more so than Ewok Village, then them retiring Ewok Village shouldn't shock anyone at all.  It's been out for a few years now and the new movie just hit.  It's time.

We already had this mail with SSD, HH, TH and many many more... they never came back.

Seems to be just a kind of auto-answer they will give you anytime you ask for a set not in stock/ sold out

I'm confused about the Star Wars retirements. Aren't the Rebels boxes like only a year old? It seems like half of them are already gone. Am I wrong in my timeframe?

at-dp 75083 is marked as retired on eu sah for example, it was released in jan 15 if im not mistaken. also, the sets from the same wave seem to disappear here, dunno if just sold out and coming back or completly gone. i dont have any other info yet, but it seems youre right.

No your timeline is not wrong.  There was a mass exodus of non-exclusive sets in 2015, many earlier than expected.  A lot of these sets were marked as retired across Europe during the 4th quarter.  I don't think those red/orange sold out and call to check sets are coming back and expect them to be officially retired in the U.S. in the coming weeks/months.

That's weird. It seems like most of Star Wars is retired/retiring soon with just the Ep. VII stuff and a few others carrying forward? It seems like Walmarts are split on whether any of the Rebels boxes are carrying forward in their stores. I haven't run into any of the discounted Final Duels or Troop Transports, but I have seen one store with discounted Imperial Shuttles.
