Jackson
I normally don't correct grammar in forums like that, but I chuckled to myself that the wrong spelling was used when calling someone out as dumb. Just some friendly banter. I keep waiting for the Pre-Vizla set to be marked down to $12.98 on LEGO Shop at Home. Since we're being grammar/spelling d*cks, I guess you meant Pre Vizsla.

Noodlenut
FYI guys, from inside Lego itself: 2-9 key chains May possibly be retiring in the next few days to years. I am 100% sure this is possibly 75% true. BUY BUY BUY. I'm not believing this, mainly because 78% of statistics are made up on the spot. (Oops! That makes it 79%)

forthofer
In regards to our news segment regarding the SSD retiring, here is the information we obtained to make this news. The manager of the store told me. Everything that particular manager has told me so far, has been true. The way it works in their world is each week they get their stock in. They noticed when particular sets stop showing up on their trucks each week. It's been 6 weeks since a SSD has shown up on their trucks. They did note that the T1 Camper Van has also not been on trucks for awhile. It makes business since for all of this to be true since we are at the end of April and they need to make room for the Sandcrawler on May 3rd. They didn't even have room to fit the Winter Village Market set on their shelves. Once I bought their last T1 Camper Van, they filled that open space with the Winter Village Market sets again. When the summer sets hit stores and the few LEGO exclusive sets hit (Mini Cooper, Sandcrawler, Carnival, etc..), sets will need to be retired to make room for new sets.

Lol, "Everything that particular manager has told me so far, has been true" - this sounds like hxckid88 line. Is it same manager? Look, nobody is arguing with statements "SSD is probably retiring" or "it makes sense for SSD to retire, so maybe it will". But you can't claim that something is retiring as if it's a fact, while not being on the board of members of TLC. P.S. Architecture Studio was not seen on trucks for a while as well some time ago (i know, i know, different case...)
Guest TabbyBoy
We'll only get to hear about the SSD's retirement when it's too late and prices start to rise. It happened with FB and will happen again. Just buy when you think the time is right, nobody apart from Lego's board members can tell you otherwise. stoltzjl77
Are set EOL's really determined at the board level within TLG? I guess it would kind of make sense. In my head, though, each theme or group of themes would have its own management group to make those sorts of decisions. But maybe that's what got them in trouble 10 years ago - too many different segments competing over market/shelf space, so now the board sets the number of sets per theme available at one time? I really need to read the Brick by Brick book. I heard from Amazon that the Lego Movie will be released to DVD/Blu-Ray/etc on June 17th. I think by "board members" we imply here "people in TLC who actually make these kind of decisions, and people in TLC who read the actual memo"

Information is shared more than you know. And their is more information in the system (database) that managers have access to than you know. I'm not going to get into a silly arguement over this. Believe or not, it's up to you. We are just trying to help out the community.

fuzzy_bricks
I think by "board members" we imply here "people in TLC who actually make these kind of decisions, and people in TLC who read the actual memo" This information is definitely too important for a memo. This would be in a TPS report I believe. Information is shared more than you know. And their is more information in the system (database) that managers have access to than you know. We are just trying to help out the community. I appreciate the info, whether its fact or not, we'll all know soon. Please take the backlash in good humor. There's actually an ongoing thread here called, "Things I heard from a Lego Store Employee" and it's largely comedy based on the fact that so many folks have heard so many 'inside' tips from these people over the years. As to an item not being on the truck at one location, it seems like there could be many reasons for that. 1) less turnover than usual, so no need to restock 2) temporary shortage due to higher than usual sales via the April double points promotion (this is specifically the status on lego.com right now, temporarily out of stock) 3) or it's retiring as you have been told. I'd say #2 is my most likely guess. I think people are expecting the end is near, so they bought up all that was available. The item on Lego.com went from "SOLD OUT" to "TEMPORARILY out of stock" which leads me to believe they're trying to indicate, more are coming. Just my thoughts. we'll all find out soon

mudcatsfan
Also, emazers prognosticated the fate of SSD, don't know, few month ago? Well,,,,,,,,,he didn't put a date on it. He said get them now before its too late and you have to scramble. We all THINK its ending soon, but that wont mean anything until it happens. We've all thought and said the same about the Death Star for a few years now.
Alpinemaps
Someone posted this in a different thread, but worth noting that the May the 4th promotional flyer in France shows both the new Sandcrawler and the SSD on it. I've got it in my head that they are at least going to have enough to get us through May the 4th, and after that? Who knows...
