exciter1 Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Hopefully they retire it soon. Even if they do retire it next month we will have quite a bit of stock at the local retailers level. Sorry I am ignoring non-US outlets as it is a different market. Outside of Amazon though there is no way to know what inventory levels are at. I do believe most folks will miss the boat on this though due to the price point and "not wanting to tie up cash". To each his own, carry on. I think you'd better tie-up some cash in that Mobile MHC deal that just got posted in the Daily Deals Thread. Quote
emazers Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 If you have the money I would get a few or wait til May 4th and see if Lego as a sale to get rid of these, because once the panic buying starts the price for these will skyrocket fast, and with the new movie Dec 2015 these will be big bucks next year for Christmas, I can see it now how many people on this site that didn't get any will be asking should I get one now for $500-$600 or more. 1 Quote

waddamon Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 I do not even know what that star wars set is. I pretty much avoid star wars except for the biggies. My Hoth Echo Bases are doing exceptionally well though. Most people did not like that one. I wish I had bought 20 of them. Quote

Speaking of which - I wonder if BP's chart is correct (i.e. if it picked correct sold listings). The chart seems more optimistic that reality, I think Quote
exciter1 Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Speaking of which - I wonder if BP's chart is correct (i.e. if it picked correct sold listings). The chart seems more optimistic that reality, I think I see it plunging to zero over the past couple months, so I think it's not calculating correctly. Quote
Darth_Raichu Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 I do wonder how many average SW watchers know what MHC Umbaran is. This one is based on CW TV series, correct ? Quote

Miami Bomb Squad Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 or wait til May 4th and see if Lego as a sale to get rid of these Its hard to believe Lego will discount the SSD given the fact that they implemented their No discount on Exclusives Policy. However, If they did, That would really mean the end of the SSD for Lego Shop At Home. Its a big "IF" Quote

However, If they did, That would really mean the end of the SSD for Lego Shop At Home. Definitely. If the SSD were to go on sale in May, it would sell out in a matter of hours. I don't think that it will happen, but Lego might put it on sale to get rid of the last remaining stock of the SSD if they stopped making it. Quote
Mos_Eisley Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 It won't be on sale. It would be a bad business decision to tell all their retailers that they can't offer the sets for less than retail price, then go and undercut them all. Quote

waddamon Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 So, after looking the the new update under the "Retired Product" search I have an additional theory for the SSD. I watch the status on this one multiple times throughout the day. If it becomes available during double vip I want to be able to finish off my allocation. I noticed that one day it switched from "out of stock" and not order-able to "temporarily out of stock" and not order-able. I know, we already know this. What also happened the next day is they updated the search results for the "retired product" list. Low and behold that all of the products that showed an "out of stock" and not order-able were on that updated list. It seems to me that they are not ready to have it fall to that list yet (next month maybe) and it would have when the "retired product" search function was updated, so they changed the status. That is my theory. I believe it is finished, place your bets appropriately. Quote
fuzzy_bricks Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Did you search "retired product"? I got a bunch of new items included when I searched that. Quote
isocleas Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 I have two lego stores by me and at both places they told me the ssd is done, one of them the lady even said that they couldn't order any more for me and that if I wanted one I'd have to order it myself and it wouldn't be available after may 4th. We didn't talk about the day except for that off-hand comment and I'm not saying they'll discount the set, but I'm pretty sure this set is done next month. Quote
justgod Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 I was also told this weekend at a store that the SSD & Town Hall were not going to be restocked. Big ol' grain of salt.... Quote
holleman67 Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Time to revive the "what I heard from a lego employee thread" Side note: we should revive that thread every once in a while to see how much is true. Maybe even take some wagers on this stuff. Would be fun x Quote
waddamon Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Did you search "retired product"? I got a bunch of new items included when I searched that. Yes, the last page of the list has the sets I am referencing when searching by relevance. not sure what happened on the front side. Quote

El Guapo Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 I was also told this weekend at a store that the SSD & Town Hall were not going to be restocked. Big ol' grain of salt.... I think there might be seeing a shift at some of the Lego Stores. I believe it is entirely possible that certain larger sets will only be available online. Especially with the large exclusives. I mean that's how Target, Walmart, and to some extent TRU does it. Why not the Lego Shop? 1 Quote
