Retiring Soon - open speculation

In case my screen shot I took isn't showing on the app.

Sandcrawler and general grievous buildable showing out of stock at SAH.

Another one I think is on its way out is avengers tower. Walmart/target selling it 3rd party. Was lucky to buy 3 from each company at 40% off last week. Seems they may be done with it. I have 13 or 14 of those now.

Star Wars buildable figures will be hit or miss. GG / Darth vader / FO stormtrooper would be my pick in that order for performance.

However it seems like not there hasn't been alot of love for this sets (in UK Anyway). They have been discounted heavily and sat around on shelves for a long time. I know heavy discount on a set does not always result in poor performance once retired, but  I was expecting better sales for them.

I  really like GG and think it is miles better than the UCS figure that was released years back.

Seems like the TFA buildable figures plus vader will be sticking around for abit longer as no retiring soon tags on then, or that could just be becuase they are good sellers.

I think the problem with the buildable figures series has been that the ones with human faces Skywalker, Kenobi, Rey, Finn, Jyn, all look pretty terrible. Luckily the recently released Chirrut Imwe pics show some improvement on that front.

They can't be performing too badly though as Lego is continuing the theme. would be better if they retired a while wave all at once though at year end we'll have a mix of wave 1,2 & 3 on the shelves.

Agreed. However I think the overall buildables will do well in time. Always have to remember fellow brothers and sisters have not been awoken yet. I've been making up for past time and paying minimum RRP and even above on new/used sets. If wave one is gone by middle of next year I'm sure the price will slowly go up. I like them for the fact they are a mix of Lego/action figure. It's not for everyone but if you like Lego and see a character you liked since you were a kid you may buy them and display at work, home wherever.

I look at the buildables on 2 different levels perfect for the person who loves General grievous but doesn't want to take the time or spend the money on a set he's in. Casual Lego fan I think is where I am getting at. The other is the completist. They come out once a year with 6 (for argument sake) that's what 125-150 dollars and you have them all.

I agree any robot or mask wearer is going to look good in these but that being said I want the "complete" set so I buy the others even if I don't care for them. There will be a market for these and even if they don't go much above RRP I will do fine. 75% of my GGs I got for 9 dollars rest for 15-17. The less people on here that like the series the better for me!

The figures are not really lego anymore, that is think is the problem. Will be easy to reach 50$/€ but with a buyin of ~25€ here, its not really worth the time with fees, shipping etc. For 9$ I would have gone nuts as well on that set.

Nice to see someone who shares my views on bionicles.

Hi everyone,

Maybe I'm too naive, but a lot of sets tagged retiring soon doesn't have the same EOL : some come OOS and disappeard, other backordered, other still alive...and LEGO seems really knows what they are doing (they must read this thread). And I'm really disappointed because of the sets that are going. Scooby done, city deep sea gone, JW done, etc. But some of them are still alive after beiing backordered. Why LEGO chose keep producing sets even to f..ck resellers (and make money on our back-french expression) ...I won't post any set number, but I hope you understand me...

Without seals to prove it is difficult to say that Lego have made another run. More likely they are reallocating stock to meet demand. Pretty easy to move stock around Europe if big demand is elsewhere.
