Guest eightbrick
Encouraged by Comicblast's recent introduction despite being an (awesome) long-ish time site member, I am going to finally put myself out into the Brickpicker society. Per my username, my real name is Brian. I am a teenage (15) Lego fan from Alberta, Canada. No, we do not ride polar bears, live in igloos (mostly), or integrate maple syrup heavily into our diet. We do however, have a decent supply of Lego, which lead to my lifelong love of the brick starting with my first set,8561 Nuhvok, which was a gift from my brother. I came across the site after seeing a link to it on some of Ed's comments on Brickset or Eurobricks (can't remember which) and quickly fell in love with the happy, and supportive community. I have created a medium-sized brickfolio made up of sets that I find on sale, and enjoy watching my profits grow, but that said, like many members here, Lego is a hobby before an investment (although I could also say that Lego-investing is a hobby). Other than @rtisan, I haven't heard of many Albertan canucks, so it would be nice to hear if there are any lurkers from the region. My recent obsession has been gold fever, that is, looking for Mr. Gold, which has resulted in everything from long road trips around the city to look for unopened boxes to a 2km sprint to my local bookstore when they first came in stock (no luck yet). Lego has been in a sort of love-hate relationship with me as it fuels my nostalgia problems (I know, its weird for a teenager to have nostalgia problems) but it will always symbolize for me pure creativity and fun. My favourite theme is Lord of the Rings (I wish I could afford Orthanc lol) and I've lightly dabbled in MOCing, mostly creating modern houses (from PAB supplies, as my OCD issues disallow me from parting out sets). If you want to see some of my MOCs, have a comment or concern, just post it below or PM. I would just like to thank Ed, Jeff, and the whole community for being so supportive, especially for letting us younger members join. Live long and profit, Brickpickers, but remember to save some bricks for yourself!

Diabolos80
It would be a lot cooler if you did ride polar bears... Here in Texas we only put away our bulls and horses when there are tourists around.

weakside
Welcome Brian. Good luck on finding Mr. Gold and remember...you can't re-sell Lego to Ontario residence ok...keep your inventory out in Alberta If you find customers in Ontario...some of us existing investors here need a 5% rake of prfits for territory rights. JK. you have probably been into Lego/investing long before I have. Refreshing to see another 'youngster' with good grammar and writing skills hehe. comicblast
Nice to officially meet you Brianl3!! Word of advice in searching for Mr. Gold...Don't feel more than 100 per day. It's hard on the thumbs. I spent 2 hours feeling a whole load of them. All of the ones that were out in the LEGO Store, in fact. They were raw afterwards...
spener90
or integrate maple syrup heavily into our diet. Welcome! Guest eightbrick
Yeah, the hands can get pretty messed up after too much feeling. What bugged me more was that at one of the places I went to go "smush" I got pretty annoyed after I asked a store clerk if I could feel through them (which is the right thing to do, I thought) and she went "well as long as you don't stuff your pockets and walk out of here", in the best anti-teen voice I ever heard. She couldn't really say no I guess because there are no rules regarding feeling I guess but after she continued to hassle me and then out of like 6 empty cash registers, she decided to open the one I was standing at (where the packets were) and said I had to leave because I couldn't move the box elsewhere because I might steal them. Some people.... (Rant over) As for syrup being an official food group... whatever floats your boat.
Guest eightbrick
Wasn't sure where to post this, so I just put it here... this is just amazing... I thought Calgary didn't get water... I guess not: The Saddledome (where the Flames Hockey Team play) is flooded about up to the tenth row of seating! That's crazy! Remember, Calgary is landlocked hundreds, if not thousands of miles away from the ocean. http://www.sunnewsnetwork.ca/archives/sunnews/canada/media/2013/06/20130621-131418-***.jpg (outside) '> (simulation of water level)
