beeblet65 Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 i am guessing since it is NOT a VIP set, it will be available on Sept. 1 - however, im sure there will be a few stores who get them in a week or so earlier Quote
TheOrcKing Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 LinkUh, why does it have a "GIRLS" tag listed? :scratchhead: Quote

OzGadget Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Link Lucky for you it is $319.99 US, in Australia it will cost $399.99 and this is before the Australian dollar went down to 85 cents against the US Dollar Quote
MartinP Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Uh, why does it have a "GIRLS" tag listed? I noticed that, but I have NO idea why it has a "girls" tag listed. Quote
rcdb1984 Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Uh, why does it have a "GIRLS" tag listed? Cause girls are named Sydney? Iono LoL Quote
ExoBro94 Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Cause girls are named Sydney? Iono LoL It's obvious... Only girls like the Opera!!!! Quote
TheDarkness Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 It's obvious... Only girls like the Opera!!!! As stereotypical as it is, that was my first thought behind their reasoning. Quote
rcdb1984 Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 It's obvious... Only girls like the Opera!!!! haha, For me I just don't like the way it looks, it's not done well ino. Quote

Huskers1236 Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 haha, For me I just don't like the way it looks, it's not done well ino. I understand not liking the look of the building, but saying it wasn't done well is crazy talk. Have you ever watched the Lego Designer Video for this building. The way they made it modular and sturdy is genius. This set will be amazing to display and invest in. Quote
CNH1974 Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 I was in the local Lego store today and asked about the SO. they said 1st Sept in the UK. No news there, but interestingly they said they thought TB would stay for another year alongside SO. Also they had 12 41999s on display. At Milton Keynes if anyone wants them. :) Quote
Black_towr Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 I'm at the Mall of America Lego store right now and the Sydney Opera House is pretty amazing. Quote
kenchu2000 Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Today I finally had a chance to drop by the nearest Lego store to check out Ewok Village and the big Sydney Opera House ****** person. I hate to say but I am extremely disappointed about both of them. The Ewok Village looks very much like a combination of few Hobbit sets (I know some of you will disagree). For Sydney Opera House, the white canopies look nice, but other than that, the entire model looks pretty boring to me. For $319, I would expect much more and much better looking than the Tower Bridge. I don't know why this set costs $319 while Tower Bridge costs only $239. I don't think they have the right price point set for this set. For September, I think I will just get the Mindstorm EV3. It's for myself, not for investment. Quote
graffiti600rr Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 I am going to try and get 2 EV3 by the end of the year. Robots are my hobby. And for investments maybe 2 more EV3 and 2 SOH next year. Quote

Some of the difference, if not all, is explained by the weight of the sets. SOH weighs roughly 3 lbs more than Tower Bridge, meaning LEGO probably had higher production costs for the former. Quote
Diabolos80 Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 I saw the opera house today at the store. I was not impressed at all. The sails look flat and the rest is just a big brown chunk. Meh. I was against the ewok village, but seeing it built has changed my mind. Looks like a fantastic build and a really fun playset. Quote

It must be very solidly built to weigh that much more, because it looks to be on a smaller foot print that the TB. I saw the opera house today at the store. I was not impressed at all. I agree it look really cool, and it shows how bad the pre launch pictures were. Quote

I am going to buy it - but will probably look to get one around $250 before I would bite. Ewok village is worth $250 in my opinion though. Quote
BrickPick3r Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 The set in video looks much better than mere looking at the box and imagining it yourself. The set is well priced since there're lots of complex parts (which is more costly to produce). It's just awesome. A masterpiece of masterpiece!!! Quote
tonysbricks Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Checked weight of my set and it was 6oz over(??). Anyone have a bag count? Quote
nir4life Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 So with the upcoming double VIP @ LEGO Shop at Home next week... I was looking for everyones thoughts on investing in the Sydney Opera House? What do y'all think? Quote
