Hello there,
I am new to the world of LEGO investing and have been doing some research on various strategies to build a profitable portfolio. I have noticed that a lot of experienced collectors and investors on this forum seem to have a deep understanding of the market, especially when it comes to retired sets.
I am interested in starting my investment journey by focusing primarily on retired LEGO sets. I believe these sets tend to appreciate faster and more consistently compared to currently available ones; but I would love to hear your thoughts on this.
What would you recommend as a reasonable budget to start with if I am focusing solely on retired sets? How much should I expect to allocate to high-potential sets versus more stable; lower growth options?
Are there particular themes or specific sets that you believe are currently undervalued in the secondary market? Any tips on how to identify these hidden gems?
Is it better to purchase sets from individual sellers; auctions; or online marketplaces? What are the risks and benefits of each approach?
How do you ensure that the sets remain in mint condition over the years? Any advice on storage solutions that protect the boxes from environmental factors?
In your experience; is there a particular time after a sets retirement when it is best to sell; or should I hold onto them for the long term to maximize returns?
Also, I have gone through this post; https://www.brickpicker.com/forums/topic/1130-opening-and-building-power-apps-investment-lego-sets/ which definitely helped me out a lot.
I am excited to learn from your experiences and would appreciate any insights you can provide to help me get started on the right foot.
Thank you in advance for your help and assistance.
