TheOrcKing Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Man, I forgot all about this bit from the original animated version by Rankin/Bass of The Return of the King, and then I ended up stumbling across it on youtube. This is one of those tunes that you'll find yourself humming at work! Ha ha. Where there's a whip, there's a way! - The Return of the King, 1980 Quote
IrishGuy66 Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Thanks.... now I'm gonna have that tune stuck in my head for weeks!! Quote
TheDarkness Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 *shudder* Some things should remain hidden...... Quote
TheOrcKing Posted May 19, 2013 Author Posted May 19, 2013 *shudder* Some things should remain hidden...... Not a fan of singing Orcs, huh? Quote
JoshTX Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Someone reminded me of this a couple weeks back...I agree that it probably should've remained forgotten but hey, this was actually a pretty good way to experience LOTR before we had the movie. I loved this as a kiddo. Quote
Blackjack Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 "I'd rather be singing a good old Hobbit song myself." Those orcs were great, but strangly tuneful. That music was so 80's! Thank's for that little gem TOK! Never seen it before. Quote
jaisonline Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Funny, I have. Disney World Indy Jones shirt with this quote. Quote
JoshTX Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 This is terrible. What do you mean? That's actually one of the better scenes. Quote
IrishGuy66 Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 What do you mean? That's actually one of the better scenes. I agree... maybe he is implying that he doesn't care for the animation style. Quote

Old or new, this has always been one of my favorite scenes. I'll admit they did take some liberties with the look of Gollum in the Rankin/Bass version but he was meant to be a scathing shadow of his former self. In other words, rather fugly. Quote

Celes Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Orcking what have you done? I can't stop hearing this. Quote
