Just for the naysayers, there were TONS of little kids dressed up like Ghostbusters and Stay Puft last night.  This might be horded, but it is also based on some VERY, VERY popular IP.

I can second this. My 4 year old nephew spied my GBHQ as soon as he walked in the house and immediately started singing Ghostbusters theme tune.

My kid was one of those kids !! Since I built the HQ and Ecto-1 he's a massive GB fan at age 4 !! ;o)

It's still selling for close to or below RRP, but it is a good seller selling approx 8-10 a day on ebay uk

I still personally feel like this set if retired end of the year, will have a short spike in price by jan/feb  then will hover around RRP until next xmas.

Theres only so many you can sell of a set even if it is a great set and in demand. If we look at advent calendars which are a hot item right now, they are selling between 30/40 per day, i highly doubt a set once retired will sell that much on ebay alone. If you consider other platforms (amazon, bricklink) then maybe.

But with everyone on here with at least 10, and that is probably an underestimate, even if ecto 1 sells 50 per day, it will probably take the next 10 years to sell the million of copies made.

It'd be nice to know how many Ecto1 were made compared to the Delorean. The Delorean was also available everywhere in large quantities so time will tell. Anybody with a buy-in around half RRP can only do well.

Ecto-2 is a motorcycle.  And the Venn diagram (we're using them on here recently) of people who will pay a premium for the classic Ghostbusters vehicle does not have much overlap with the grandparents who will just buy a Ghostbusters car because their grandchild likes Ghostbusters.  Sounds like negativity for the sake of negativity.  You're like school in summertime :)

Forget what I said. Party on people!

I expect the price of any Ghostbusters set will be influenced by the second film. Sony execs are adamant that the Ghostbusters will be a franchise so, stay tuned for more films and for price fluctuations. ;-)

annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd it's already 50% over Retail.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00JRCB3HQ/ref=dp_olp_all_mbc?ie=UTF8&condition=all

Even though this set lived in the 'non-discount' era, many of us found ways around that. I averaged about 20% below retail for my stash. I like the initial bump. Curious to see if it plateaus and slips back as everyone jumps in the pool or not. I fear the horde has quite a few of these and this 70-75 level will drop to 60-65 for a while once the stashes get listed in earnest.

Of note, ebay is already at 70 shipped for the buy it now price, not TOO far below amazon at 75.I would have expected to see a larger gap considering the gating limitations and fee differences.
