now if 21108 is a slow seller, it could remain on available until the film arrives but i think the set is still popular.

At a Dutch Lego forum I read multiple comments stating they hadn't bought the  21108 Ecto-1 set yet, but having seen the new set now they all decided to quickly get the 21108 version before it's unavailable any longer. I assume that will be the general feeling of the Lego purchasing and building public.

So is this a good sign to start hoarding up now? Heh. I'm a small time investor (I usually only gather 1-3 of the same set as compared to the peeps who hoard 10-20+) so this might be the time to gather my golden 3 now, lol.

A bird in hand.... Especially when that bird is about to fly off most likely.

I'm a similar small time AFOL investor. I now have three 21108 stashed. But I intend to build one of them for my own collection, leaving two as small investment.

FWIW 016S here too. With GBHQ out I just don't see a scenario where TLG doesn't have at least one on the shelf.  Wouldn't even surprise me if they have the 2 variants out for a good few months after the film debuts.

OT but will be an interesting comparison for the new X-wing and poes still coming out.  More can be said about TLG having multiple variants of the same set out but that's a discussion better placed in a different topic.

So has this lived longer than any other ideas set now? Getting worried.

How many do you have? Can't see you losing money on this since it's iconic.

30. I can't see losing money either. Unless it hangs around another year and gets another few million produced.

The new Ghostbusters trailer has finally revealed the new Ecto-1.

Whereas the original was more...

The new Ecto really shouldn't hurt the original then. It's a completely different car.

The original was soooooooo more bad ass then the new one. I mean seriously a old 80's Caddy............Gack

As expected it is not going anywhere. They just came out with the GBHQ. I am guessing this will be around at least another year.

Classic originals are always the best, 21108 needn't worry and that's the only one I'd byy for investment.

You better watch how you throw that word around - there is only 1 truly Iconic LEGO set.

These have  30th Anniversary  slabbed on em....So how long can they really make them before they start saying 31st anniversary..and then if they remake them..they won't have this box...Strong investment IMO..

Right, it's not like TLG would ever change the design of a box during a products life span; that would be unheard of. ;)

Latest seal code I've seen is 09S6.

The final production run, right?

Well TRU UK has nearly 400 in stock for home delivery so it doesn't look like it's dwindling.
