Crustybeaver
I think 21108 will be officially retired by the time the new set hits the market. Having two Ghostbusters Ecto-1's in production with the similar names is just going to create confusion

At a Dutch Lego forum I read multiple comments stating they hadn't bought the 21108 Ecto-1 set yet, but having seen the new set now they all decided to quickly get the 21108 version before it's unavailable any longer. I assume that will be the general feeling of the Lego purchasing and building public.
AFOL Pedro
So is this a good sign to start hoarding up now? Heh. I'm a small time investor (I usually only gather 1-3 of the same set as compared to the peeps who hoard 10-20+) so this might be the time to gather my golden 3 now, lol.

Especially when that bird is about to fly off most likely.

I'm a similar small time AFOL investor. I now have three 21108 stashed. But I intend to build one of them for my own collection, leaving two as small investment.
redjersey
At least 20 Ecto-1s on the shelves of my local toyshop this morning, all 01S6.
Crustybeaver
At least 20 Ecto-1s on the shelves of my local toyshop this morning, all 01S6. Nothing unusual about that. 21108 will most likely be in production for a few more months, plenty of time to pick up your quota.
GiliusThunderhead
FWIW 016S here too. With GBHQ out I just don't see a scenario where TLG doesn't have at least one on the shelf. Wouldn't even surprise me if they have the 2 variants out for a good few months after the film debuts. OT but will be an interesting comparison for the new X-wing and poes still coming out. More can be said about TLG having multiple variants of the same set out but that's a discussion better placed in a different topic.

wotguvnotmeguv
The new Ghostbusters trailer has finally revealed the new Ecto-1. Whereas the original was more... The new Ecto really shouldn't hurt the original then. It's a completely different car.

Unless it hangs around another year and gets another few million produced.

Guest
As expected it is not going anywhere. They just came out with the GBHQ. I am guessing this will be around at least another year.

Guest TabbyBoy
Classic originals are always the best, 21108 needn't worry and that's the only one I'd byy for investment.

Martae54
These have 30th Anniversary slabbed on em....So how long can they really make them before they start saying 31st anniversary..and then if they remake them..they won't have this box...Strong investment IMO.. Right, it's not like TLG would ever change the design of a box during a products life span; that would be unheard of.
