Val-E Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 (edited) So right now it´s basically like buying Angry Birds or Lego batman Movie at half price. You know it was worth more and might be worth more again but there is a nagging suspicion that no one will want it at all and that in a few weeks it will be marked down to 70% off and then 3 cents.... labfreak7 Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 I hope that is not your foot. Almost threw up when I saw that picture. 1 Quote

Thats interesting.. why do you think that LEGO Batman is not a good investment? Almost each set gets a nice review on brickset Quote

They only sell when heavily discounted, there is very low AFOL appeal and kids are not that interested either now the movie is done. A handful of sets will do OK but how many batmobiles do we really need? That Amazon Uk was GIVING AWAY the catwoman motorcycle tells you a lot. 1 Quote

Since they do not sell a lot (in large quantities by all of you), basically just like a gift to be opened and played with.. couldnt their collectors value increase in like 5 years? Batman is still a very popular comics hero, maybe one of the most. And I can hardly imagine LEGO doing a second Batman movie (from their perspective given the unimpressive sales). Quote

You are more than welcome to test your theory out and we can come back in 5 years and see how it went for you. I have 0 LBM sets in my portfolio and that´s coming from someone who has invested in Angry Birds, Super Hero Girls, Chima and Lone Ranger. Quote
Val-E Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 @TabbyBoy hasn´t checked in today. Maybe too busy buying crytpos on the cheap? Quote
pharmjod Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 5 year hold time? Have fun with that. I'm done holding sets to sell that long. I've been doing this for fun for close to 18 years now. No way I'm holding any set on purpose for 5 years to resell. I'll take a loss and move on before I do that. My timeframe at this point is 2 years or less. Buy at a steep enough discount when possible and if I can sell for msrp or more plus shipping and walk away with 20-50% profit. Sent from my PH-1 using Brickpicker Forum mobile app 1 Quote
crayxlp Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 I share exactly the same view regarding your desired perspective on a profit gained. 1 Quote
Alpinemaps Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 I only wander into this thread every couple of days. You guys have provided me with a lot of entertainment (in a good way) with your discussions. The last week’s of reading as been especially interesting. I wanted to address one post:I'm not a fan of LEGO acronyms either. It would be nice if code could be inserted that linked to the brickset database when you typed #+setnumber. But even if possible I understand why the Mack's wouldn't want to do that since brickset also competes for referrals. The acronym MiLF for the ucs falcon that is being used over there just irritates me.There’s a way for us mods to add to a database so when a set number is mentioned you can hover over it and the name and a link will be displayed. It takes a lot of work to keep that database up to date. And it only works on desktop. Mobile doesn’t see it. And most of the mods are on mobile most of the time. So yeah. As for MILF - I am very proud of promoting that acronym and glad it’s caught on. Quote
HandyHand Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 After the large dump over the past few days I think there's upwards movement all over the board again. Last night I bought more ETH because I'm bullish on it and expect good performance of ETH in 2018. The low value yesterday was a great time to increase my ETH investment! 1 Quote
Guest TabbyBoy Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 I was selling ETH at €850 and buying back at €800 yesterday evening, rinse and repeat. I added an extra 1.27 ETH in 8 hours without adding any extra funds. Riding the waves is very risky but, I use the "double-up" method that is banned in some casinos. As long as you can forecast at least 1 drop in 5, you'll do OK provided that you have the bankroll to do it. I'm now going to use that 1.27 ETH to play with XRP this evening, punting 5000 XRP at a time. If you've got the knack of setting good margins without being greedy, it can really pay off. Quote

Basically what reseller scum do every time SAH has a sale and scales the discounts. Return and buy again. 50% off on Armando Salazar is incoming. Quote
Pseudoty Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 I think crypto is at the "Lego is better than gold" point in its lifespan as there is a lot of new money from people that were not previously in this space, both big investors and soccer moms. So the market is being propped back up again but I think the next drop will be even bigger and not sure if there will be enough new money for another rebound. So the BTP will get out and the commoners will be left holding the bag. I too am bullish on ETH and think it will come out on top, well I hope so as I did 3 more limit buys yesterday. I did a double up on TRX in less then 48 hours and think it will 10x quickly once they launch their gaming platform in a few weeks. There is definitely easy money to be had for those that have the skill to day trade like @TabbyBoyis doing. 1 Quote

The beauty of crypto is that there's no competition and there's always a buyer available if you don't take this piss. You're itching to have a go, aren't you? Quote

Have you touched on in this thread what buying platform is the best/friendliest? Right now I only play around on etrade with regular stocks, but wouldnt mind trying cc too. Just havent been able to find a reputable and trusted inlet. Edited January 18, 2018 by BricksBrotha 1 Quote
