I don't have any and that may bite me in the behind later on. I just don't feel the set. I screwed myself with the DeLorean as I thought the car was fugly and didn't think it would do well EOL. Will my personal feelings on EV screw me again? I've read all the pages of this thread and the best points of this set are:

1) Original Trilogy, 2) Big playset, 3) LOTS of figures (that didn't help Battle of Endor much though)

Am I missing anything else? I can't remember how many figures are exclusive to this set and whether they're good figures or not. I don't know. I feel R5 is the better bet with my money out of these two even though R5 is back in stock again. Grrrr

Overall I do not suspect EV will be a big winner of the current SW exclusive stock.  However its growth may very well peak before any of the others, particularly because it is not as heavily hoarded, and it will likely retire sooner.  If it does start to peak in 2 years or so It may have better returns, over that time frame, than other sets currently available.  Thus I do not think you will be kicking yourself, but I also do not think this is a bad place to park some capital at the moment.

Picked up a EV from my local Lego store. They had them all in the back. The sales person said they pulled them all because they did not want resellers buying them all up. Really did not make sense to me.

The lego store manager in my area is pretty chill dude. We talk about sets retiring and which ones I should be on the lookout for and also makes jokes as to ... hey you gunna clean out or "this and that set" today. Get to know the people working at the stores and they will be nicer to you and be a more enjoyable experience.

I got an alert email yesterday morning from amazon saying my EV would be delayed due to an issue with the carrier. I knew right away it would not arrive in good condition. Today I received it and I was right. The shipping box was crushed in on both sides but not too bad, I had hope. Opened it up and all 3 seals on one side were popped and the box had a nice crush/bend in it.

Amazon gave me a 10% refund. I didn't push for more as this is my first time asking for a refund. Also, it was UPS's fault since it was packed well but that doesn't really matter when something/one smashes it.

The past sets weren't either properly painted (7139), or too small (7956), or irrelevent (8038)...

10236 clearly says "Endor!", and given the setting which is not as essential as the Death Star, Lego is unlikely to one up this village

If i had the money i would stack 5 of theses

Lot of folks who have been proven to be wrong before still talk in absolutes.

Many said 9515 won't "fly" since it got no wings or 9492 would never ever go past $75

folks need to do what's right for them. No one here ever got every set right. Ever.

Out of a economical recession situation, Star wars Misb sets will climb as more and more customers will buy and rip them open.

Sure 9515 and 9492 will increase over time, but not as fast as this Ewok village.

3 years later, 9515 is still under 3x and even 2x, so it's still not successful as an investment.

9492 is one among several tie fighter rehash, that's why it's a slow grower too.

Unless Lego pull another Ewok village mid-end 2016, there's no other place to properly prop Endor, and this one do the job nicely

point was many folks said not to buy those and they did pretty well -throw in BTTF to the mix ... So the same can or can't happen to the EV. There is no right answer today.

I have 2 MISB and a gently used display set I picked up off eBay for personal use, so as an end user I really believe in this set. Objectively speaking though, the eBay sales prices haven't been awesome lately. A complete used EV set went for about $160 this week. Maybe that will improve as the supply drys up and this is a sleeper, but compared to other sets under similar circumstances I'm getting a fairly Luke warm reception.

Does anyone know when the "Hoth Echo Base" is supposed to be released?  If the Death Star and Ewok Village are gone and there is no other large set with appealing play features we could see immediate returns this Christmas similar to AA in 2014.  Not that I'm selling that soon on either set but something to consider and keep an eye on.

A month ago, I was set to buy at least another. But, I ended up holding off, and went another direction with my monthly funds.  I'm just sitting on one EV, that is not opened.   I do think long term though, sets like this are going to be sought after in the secondary market.  I don't think EV is heavily hoarded compared to other sets like PS, Red5, ToO, etc.  But right now, isn't the time to start thinking $$ on it. I also think if 5 years from now, we have a large Hoth, large Ep7 set, another DS from Rogue 1, perhaps a large Clouds CIty, and Degobah.. . Sets like this will be wanted, because many will see these larger sets as part of a unique series.  I always look at sets like EV as a complete set.  I can't say the same about Palpatines arrest, the cantina, or jedi duel.  While those sets are awesome in their own way, they could use another 500 to 600 pieces to make them better.  EV on the other hand is darn near perfect.

I agree.  EV could be the Market Street 10190 of the large SW play sets.

I just checked sold listings for used, strangely the one I picked up on the 1st isn't showing up on that list. Mine, and all the ones in that $160 range for the past couple weeks are all going for set only, no minifigs. By my very quick and rough calculations, the 16 minifigs (given the time) will sell for about $120 or more. Not too bad overall, considering it's not EoL yet...?

[Edit: Despite being in Canada, I relate everything in USD as that's the market I'm after with the steep exchange rate right now]
