jmdt Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Please merge (if there is already another topic like this) or delete if it is not appropriate. How do you manage your lego obsession? I only got into lego about 6 months ago and I realize that I'm not a QFLL - I'm a lego hoarder! Despite the amount of lego that I have acquired, I see a good deal, and I just want to buy more. Thankfully I am not (and will never choose to) buy lego on debt. However, this clearly can be a pretty strong addiction. How do you manage it? Quote

When I first became a Lego investor, I was able to manage my addiction by buying off CL and then flipping the set for profit. It gave the the satisfaction of success and I got money in the process too. 1 Quote
10230 Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Start to do an exact inventory if you haven't already. It helps with selling, helps control buying, and most of all takes a lot of time you don't spend buying. 1 Quote
jmdt Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Thanks for the suggestions! I think my husband thinks I'm a little too into Lego. It didn't help that when we were out, I mentioned that I thought a woman we saw had minifig hair 3 Quote
bricketycricket Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 I'm definitely addicted. Fortunately I'm an almost comically risk-averse person so that keeps a lid on my spending but I've still spent far more than I ever thought I would. Some days I do wonder if I might be slightly insane. Quote
diablo2112 Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 About the only hobby I enjoy more than Lego Investing is sports cars. And I only recently realized that my Lego collection would trade for a very nice Corvette. That thought has had me awake at nights. 2 Quote

jmdt Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Research on kids with behavioral problems discusses iatrogenic effects (group treatment with other kids with behavioral problems can increase the problematic behavior). If this holds true for AFOLs, I should probably reduce my time on brickpicker. On the other hand, how can it be bad for you when it feels so good? 1 Quote
