CNH1974
OK, this is not totally my original idea. I got from Knorbika on the Who is over 30 thread and thought it deserved its own thread. http://www.brickpicker.com/index.php/forums/viewthread/3404/P60/#35592 So.... What was your first ever Lego set? And do you still have it? Mine was 673 I got on Christmas 79 I think. I only have about 3 original pieces left so I hunted out a pristine version from eBay. If you want to add pictures, I got mine from Brickset.com

Edit: On topic though, my first set was an airplane back in the 80's, but I'm having trouble finding the exact one.
Blackjack
That motorcycle is classic! My first was obviously a bucket of bricks, but the set that got me into Lego collecting was the 2006 Star Wars V-Wing Fighter.

Maybe I should replace the similey face with one of the new heads that show a pained expression.

redeemed763
Awww, I remember the Ice Planet days! The deep freeze defender was my big birthday present one year, that was the coolest set ever to my little 9 year old self.

The deep freeze defender was my big birthday present one year, that was the coolest set ever to my little 9 year old self. You know, even looking at them now.... they were great sets! The colors, the theme, normal minifigures.... Dang. I might just have to bricklink one for myself for christmas.
TheOrcKing
http://brickset.com/detail/?Set=6834-1 I must have been 5. Hell's Yeah! Ice Planet! I loved the s**t out of those and still do! I have all of them except for Ice Station Odyssey (6983). I did everything with the Deep Freeze Defender.
redeemed763
I had gotten several sets before this, but this was the first one that I was a bit bigger that I built on my own, I still view it as my first set http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=6375-1 My actual first set was this one http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=1612-1 I got quite a few polybags or polybag size sets between the ages of 4 and 6, I don't remember when they each arrived but they were TONS of fun, I always looked forward to that familiar rattle. steakyboy
I think my first set was maybe one of the knights sets back in the early 80s. My kids still play with the knights at Grandma's house. Battle over that and my He-Man figures.
spener90
I'm not entirely sure? Lego 4559 was the most memorable, I was six at the time and I remember sitting up all night with my family (all night at that point was 10pm, maybe 11?), sorting pieces and the proceeding to build it. I remember wanting Fort Legoredo instead, but I guess it has worked out now, as my Mom has been hooked on trains ever since.
Guest ph4tb0i
Blue bucket was my first "set", but the one that got me out of the dark ages was the 3677 cargo train.
kerrmando
The First set i remember getting was a police boat in the early 90's. I'm sure I got some before then but thats the first I can actively remember. Unless you count duplo

gte206w
I didn't have a good chronology of my early sets, so I went to brickset and paged through year by year until the first thing triggered my brains. It was a tie between these two from 1986: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=1555-1 http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=5540-1 I remember loving the shape of that santa hat piece, and hating the fact that the F1 car used stickers (I was only 4, the hatred must be an instinct)
CNH1974
Stickers over more than one brick was always annoying. Unfortunately it's something they have started to do again.
Huskers1236
The first set I "remember" getting was 6080 King's Castle. I know I had sets before this, but remembering old Christmas pictures I don't remember seeing any Lego sets that I would have received. Maybe everything I had was hand-me-downs. I had old Classic Space stuff from around 1980, but 6080 was the first I remember "getting".
CNH1974
I've got this one somewhere, well bits of it, it was the first big castle set I received. I got it in 86 from memory.
