MrToes16 Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 Set is glorious. Especially these new leaf pieces: 3 Quote
BricksBrotha Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 very nice botanical - esque tree in the background. However appealing the roof may be, it looks like a PITA to construct. Quote

CosmicSpeed Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 Looking nice! I think it's funny how we all immediately look at how the roof tiles and hotdogs are perfectly straight. It really is a pretty set, nice to see a LOTR set with color outside of gray, brown and black. Quote
scatttcat Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 As a diehard Tolkien fan I think I am most impressed with the detail and the unique weapon molds. New sword for Boromir, new axe mold for Gimli, and Narsil is just a chef’s kiss. Another cool element is while the figures are all amazing, and 15 are included, there are at least another 4 elf “statue” figures. Day 1 buy for me easily. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

oneknightr Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 (edited) Wow. Lego knocked it out of the park with this one. The details in the set are amazing and they captured it pretty perfectly! If I was a bigger LOTR's fan, it would be a no-brainer and I'd be trying to figure out how to pay for it. Edited February 7, 2023 by oneknightr Quote

redghostx Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 I'm not a LOTR fan but I appreciate how beautiful the set is. Looks great for fans.Yay LEGO! Quote

It would of been worth so much more, also kind of rewarding to get something exclusive if you are interested enough to plop down the $500 for the set. Quote

Unionize Pokemart Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 I suppose but if it is a money thing, you could buy now and an exclusive set would be a much bigger rebate on the price if you were willing to sell it. LOR stuff has had some pretty crazy appreciation on it, I wouldn't be surprised if an exclusive GWP could fetch you $50+ aftermarket had they done it, which is a nice 10% off the price. 1 Quote
Pseudoty Posted February 9, 2023 Author Posted February 9, 2023 (edited) Has Lego reached its limits with this set? Look how far it has come in 10 years. I think with the ability to design sets with computers, create new elements, and unlimited price points we may never see the pinnacle, well at least not in my lifetime. I still like the classic plain square bricks and plates but this set is stunning. Hopefully I can use a 1X6 or 8 and a 1x1 to form a border and get the roof tiles perfectly straight so you get the desired effect. It will be interesting to see the reviews of people that bought it but can't get it to look like the Lego enhanced images. And that new Fern element is just unreal. Darth_Raichu Posted February 9, 2023 Posted February 9, 2023 The set looks amazing but that roof looks like a chore. Imagine making LEGO Art but turn every 1x1 tile 45 degrees 1 Quote
Unionize Pokemart Posted February 9, 2023 Posted February 9, 2023 This set truly lives up to every bit of expectation you could have for it imo, just absolutely gorgeous. I hate to pay $500 for a set but this one will absolutely get me to do it. Quote

Darth_Raichu Posted February 9, 2023 Posted February 9, 2023 To be fair, the set would look good on a CEO's desk. The CEO probably needs to order an unpaid intern to put all of those 1x1 tiles on the roof though Quote
Chormeister Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 A brick separator works well too. I always have one at hand for straightening fiddly pieces while building. 1 Quote
