He's totally legit (so far). I sold him 2 last week and it did take him a day or two to pay. Maybe he's waiting for the end of the week for cash flow issues which wouldn't be abnormal.

One of the accounts appear to be a business account and the other is a personal account just for buying all his crawlers. Lots of people have multiple eBay accounts to separate selling from buying.

If I were him, I'd try and wait until after the 17th. If the politicians don't come to an agreement, it might spike the exchange rate in his favor.

ah ic .. because he just bought another one from me now but hasnt paid for the last 4 lol

True, but this doesn't change the % of flipped vs. unflipped drastically - that's only 0.75% of the 20,000 sets.  If EU eBays contribute another 150-200 sold, your still in the 15% range overall.  The point of my earlier post still stands.

But have you ever thought that yours 15% is like alot more than regular sets are sold sold/made ????

How many helm's Deep in percentage do you think were resold? I doubt its 15% of bought sets.....

how many FBs were resold? I doubt 15% of all made were resold

and so on and on...

15% of all sets being resold for whatever purpose is a huge percentage for a toy to me....

Whether I should get 2 haunted house or 1 of this?

These questions about whether to get this set always really surprise me.  Let's look at your specific question.  Considering that you can't sell the HH until who knows when and who know for how much at this point but you can buy the crawler and flip it immediately why wouldn't you buy the crawler and make > $100 profit in a day and then buy the HH's after?

I've been saying this for a while now.  Some investors have this idea that when you buy a Lego set, you have to sit on it for 3-5 years before you sell it...

It's really great for the rest of us how difficult it is for a number of people who supposedly understand this market at least a little to grasp how easy it is to profit on this set.  I mean you literally buy it and list immediately for round $400 and it sells and you make around $125 after fees and shipping.  I will continue to do this as often as I can get sets at retail price.  I do understand that some people are getting this for more than retail in Canada or at TRU but assuming you get the set at retail it's crazy easy to make a fast buck.

NO. For example, the 41999 LE 4X4 Crawler. You could buy it one day. As soon as you get the set, list it on eBay for $400 and it's sold and shipped. All done in a week. Not 3-5 years.

What's wrong with the long term approach?

I don't think he was saying there was anything wrong with sitting on sets.  I think his point was that this is an opportunity to make real money without having to sit on sets for a long time and many Lego investors don't always think that way.  Even for this set people might want to hold them which I get if you think more money can be made down the road but how many sets have ever offered this high a return with just a simple 24hr flip?

Fast Flippers vs. Long Term Investors...Reminds me of the Marshmallow Test.

If I understand correctly, I think the poster (Ivanlau) was asking which one is a better "long" term investment: two HHs vs. one Crawler, if he had to purchase one today based on the current ebay listing price of $400.  He probably wasn't asking about flipping.

And Spener's point was why not flip now - it's easy money.  Someone flipping 41999 can get the HH discounted by over 65% with the proceeds from the Crawler sale.

Think of it this way - you go into a Lego Store to buy an investment set, and see two signs: one that says "Haunted House - $65 with rebate" and the other that says "Haunted House - $180".  Which would you pick?  I would pick the $65 HH every time, even if there's more effort involved.

EDIT - You can pose the same scenario with the Crawler, but this time it would be "Crawler - $75 with rebate" or "Crawler - $200".  The current selling market is teed up for flippers.

EDIT 2 - To extend the analogy, Ivanlau is in the store in front of all four signs asking the forum whether he should pay $180 for a HH or $200 for a Crawler.  Spener, et al are saying "Take the rebate and buy either for a lot less money!"
