Ed Mack Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 If a LEGO website was going to run a contest, what should the TOP prize be? Quote
stephen_rockefeller Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 I need to find this website you speak of ;) Quote
abri123 Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Does the way you've written 'a Lego website' mean yours? Am hoping any prize wouldn't just be for US residents only though. Quote
Fcbarcelona101 Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Assuming such a great site existed, I believe the gift certificate would be the best choice, giving people the ability to decide anything they want. Having said that any of the sets would be an AMAZING prize anyway, especially for those of us who have a hard time deciding which set to build next. Quote
comicblast Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 I voted for the B-Wing, just because I don't have one, and would want one since it would be a good investment and looks great as a display. I also agree with Fcbarcelona101, but I would say do a giftcard for only LEGO Shop at Home because the point of the prize probably is to have a LEGO oriented prize, so I wouldn't want the winner to be spending the $200 on for example, shoes for his mother, nothing against doing that, though! Quote
dunkers97 Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 I'd do the $200 gift card because then anybody who gets it can get whatever they want. Quote

Good point! BTW, my brothers buy their own shoes. Quote

shudameister Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 From an Investor's stand point. If you sit on $200 it wont be going anywhere, anytime fast. It will move at the rate of a rock. However, some of the other options (all of the rest) if you sit on it for about a year, you will most likely get more. Do you want instant satisfaction or long term satisfaction ? Quote
Grolim Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Who wouldn't want a Haunted House? Or another Haunted house? Voucher is a ok as well, but hard for those outside US to get max value from. I look forward to finding a website with such a comp :) Quote

Do you want instant satisfaction or long term satisfaction ?I think that Ed is thinking that people may want different sets, besides the ones offered like sets more in the $50 range instead. Just gives people a few more options... Quote

But lets look at the bright side, I can buy shoes I like and that might be a little on the expensive side! :) Quote
Rich B Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 I said $200 gift certificate, that way the winner could chose to spend his/her money on whatever Lego items they wanted, since not everyone is a Star Wars or City theme fan, etc. Second best choice in my opinion would be a Haunted House, I have never heard of someone not liking the HH, it's one of the most iconic Lego sets of all time. Quote
Huskers1236 Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 I agree with most others, the gift certificate gives a nice freedom to find something that especially piques your interest. Quote
stephen_rockefeller Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 I don't think you can go wrong with any of the sets..........if you don't want one or mutiples of the above sets in your brickfolio I would be hard pressed to call you an investor. Quote
Damnation666 Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 I think the top prize should be a Lego set. If you give people $200, they might spend it on underwear. Get my point. Maybe they can tell Jeff and Ed what sets they want for $200 or less and they can order them through Amazon to make sure Lego sets were bought. Quote

emes Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 The gift certificate is much easier for the hypothetical site to ship/transfer to the winner... Quote
kerrmando Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 They are all great prizes but I'd go with Town Hall or Gift Card personally Quote
Rich B Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 agreed......if it was a GC I would make a LEGO Shop at Home one. Yep it'd have to be a shop at home GC for sure! We can't be having Lego contests for underwear lol Quote
Grolim Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Just a little example of what $200 gets you at shop.lego.com 10228 Haunted House is $180, cool. But switch regions to my country, and that same set will cost $240, plus $64 shipping. That's why a set is so much better and even for all players. Even if I had a $300 voucher I'd feel sour about spending that at shop.lego.com when the price is so inflated for non US customers. Quote
sadowsk1 Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 I would say gift cards. The cost of shipping any item could be added to the balance of the card and make things a lot easier for a person to get what they want. In the end though, who can be picky about getting any Lego or Lego related item for free? Quote
