Stud-u-like Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 I don't think the latest superb technic offerings have helped, the Volvo in particular. I was lucky enough to pick up some Unimogs for just Quote
marcandre Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Unimog is $300+ on Amazon. It's doing fine, patience. Quote

Crustybeaver Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 I am pretty underwhelmed at this set so far, its been gone 8 or 9 months now I think and still hasn't done much. I remember the large excavator set jumped to $299 right after eol and now it is over $400, I was hoping for equal or better returns with 8110, we will have to keep waiting, they are slowly selling off ebay. In the UK Unimog sales have been around the Quote

Ciglione Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 Alot of investors will sell it this Xmas. So after Xmas it will be more scarce and price will go up faster. I am very confident about this set. Quote
Guest TabbyBoy Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 I'm waiting until Xmas 2015 to sell mine. Funny that the locals I sell to aren't interested at all in Technic and I only wanted Quote
Ciglione Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Same as Stud-u-like, how did you guys manage that! Where did you buy them from? I had mine very close to MSRP, hence the need to wait much longer to make the whole thing worth while! I just bought one of them at 1 Quote
legone Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 we need an article in NYT... "Controversy surrounding Lego's toys licensed from manufacturer with Nazi connection"? Quote
MarleyMoose Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Should I grab the two at retail ($199.99+) from a local toy shop? Quote
jerryherb Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Should I grab the two at retail ($199.99+) from a local toy shop? no brainer, or let me know where the shop is and i will do it for you Quote
allen9917 Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Anyone selling the Unimog this holiday season? Seeing the 41999 capped below $400 I'm not bullish on 8110 to do better. Quote
nolanfan34 Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 I'm holding. No rush, just gotta give it some time. Still bullish on the Crawler long term as well, just waiting for the current one to retire. Quote
odysea11 Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 8110 - No. Not yet. I'll hold off for another year or two. The returns are mediocre at best right now depending on your buy in. 41999 - Trying to finish offloading this year. Growth will come very slowly now. Quote
Val-E Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 I agree that the crawler LE has pretty much peaked and now it is the turn of its older brother 9398 to retire and compete with it on the secondary market. The unimog is a tough one to call (I have heard rumours that there will be another Mercedes licensed Technic set in the summer) because the hoarder to buyer ratio seems to be skewed for what is an expensive Quote
Ciglione Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Just hold your positions on the 8110 Unimog. There are still alot on ebay and my local Craig's list. Indeed alot of impatient investors I guess. I expected after the 2014 X-mas frenzy to be much less for sale. But maybe I am/was too optimistic. Maybe 2016 is the way to go. Anyway, I have enough things I want/need to get ridd off. And Unimog is not one of them. Quote
hannibal Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 The 8110 Unimog is amazing but as every other big Technic set it needs time. Indeed the returns are pretty mediocre at the minute, so give it time. I am holding to mine as I am in no rush for money, they can wait until the prices matures nicely... Bare in mind this is a niche set, it is predominantly boys (men) into cars and mechanical stuff that buy these things. Proper nerd stuff, but true Lego fans! )) the 41999 is still pulled back due to the availability of the 4x4 Crawler. Once the crawler retires, the 41999 will start appreciating properly... Quote
hannibal Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 What's the matter with this set, I looked at the sold listings on eBay yesterday and it seems the price instead of picking up as we're in the Christmas shopping frenzy is actually going downhill... I can't figure it out! It's an awesome set this one, whats wrong with people! Quote
Val-E Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 1) hoarders outnumber buyers on this one so supply and demand laws take effect 2) you need to wait more than 2 years for Technic sets to appreciate over MSRPas they were heavily discounted -you need to wait for a new gen of AFOLs 3) The Volvo is a more fun alternative and till recently the Crawler was available for a similar price. With patience this one will do well in the long run but people looking for immediate return should look in other places than Technic. Quote
