David1981 Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Do you think it is wise to try to sell the Lego Unimog now or to wait for several more months. I'm new to Lego investing and wanted some advice. I bought for Quote
@rtisan Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 All depends on what people want to personally get out of this. Some people make quick flips to try and get a small sum fast, others try and wait longer to make more money. Unimog is going to keep going up, no questions. It`s massive and is overall a fantastic set to build and use. It`s also different from many of the other Technic sets on the market, and offers a unique design and loads of features. Fan favourite among builders/collectors/hobbyists/etc. alike, I guess Quote
David1981 Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Thanks for the advise. I've got two sets so I think I'll definitely hold onto them for the time being. Quote
jaisonline Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Hold on for another 16- 22 months and you'll be very happy. Quote
David1981 Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Thanks so much, I was going to take the Quote
ninjasnake1337 Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 For what it's worth, my opinions: With the Unimog you're on to a winner (sure, they were available for a short period with discount, but this set sold out across the country - this speaks volumes about its popularity and likely secondary market value!). It's a Mercedes licensed product, has power functions, is MASSIVE and it's going to do well Most people think TB will make good profits based on previous Lego landmarks (Taj, Eiffel tower...), but who knows - this one has probably been hoarded more as a result (though this argument has flaws - people thought the FB was hoarded and it has nearly doubled in price just weeks after EOL...). A used set for 50% off is nice if you're planning to build yourself, but what that will fetch on the second market I have no idea (PS - regularly check Amazon.it, Amazon.fr and Amazon.es - a brand new TB in a sealed box can regularly be had for 190EUR delivered, which is about 2 Quote

allen9917 Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 As a new investor or seller, you need to be aware that your profit of selling now is far less than 80 as you think you would have earned. After fees and shipping, you probably looking at 40~50. Hold and let it grow. 1 Quote
fatboycarney Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 So is this even a buy at CDN retail 249 + 13% if I can find one? Or would you put that amount somewhere else? Like 2 GE's or 3 T1 Campers? Quote
graffiti600rr Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 For your own personal collection to open, I say yes buy a used one. To invest and make more maybe go T1 or the GE. You can get 2 of either for the current cost of 1 8110 Quote
No More Monkeys Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Keep in mind that unimog is OOS, and de-facto retired. GE is _probably_ retiring soon. With T1, there are no definite rumours Quote

Guess I need to go re-read When to Buy LEGO Sets: A Formula to Aid Decision Making and actually apply it to my question (if i can figure it out ) Quote

I feel somewhat safer having to buy at retail something that's about to retire and already scarce, if I can break even right now after fees. Quote

I see one on Kijiji for 450 and one on ebay in Canada for 300. Thats it up north that I can find Quote
Sauromosis Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I'm loving the idea of the Unimog as an investment. I got two during BOGO last week and like a previous poster said it's Retiring Soon and Sold Out. Quote

MartinP Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 And it's marked as "NEW"????? Something doesn't seem right. I can see why they marked it as new. Walmart started selling Technic sets not to long ago, so it makes sense that it is marked as new if they started selling it Quote
BricksR4kids Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Anyone else notice that lego.com sold out on these for $99 bucks...? Quote
