El Guapo
These are so awesome, they should be posted on both this and the joke thread:YES! Axis of Awesome is...well...awesome. Guessing you are probably into the Dan Band too then (the wedding band in Old School, the Hangover, etc for those who have never heard of them.) For serious music I like Dropkick Murphy's, Bad Religion, The Cult, Iron Maiden, and most punk. For relaxing music really like Rodrigo y Gabriela, Neil Diamond, The Beach Boys, and most classic rock. For guilty pleasure music I really like Abba, the Go-Go's, disco, Berlin, and most 80's pop. Sme people say they like everything, but I am about as across the board as I have found. Oh...also into old blues like Robert Johnson, random guitar players like Segovia, and love Mexican style rock guitar (think of Antonio Banderas in Desparado..actually it was Los Lobos).Recently I have been playing the theme from Last of the Mohicans on my guitar....funny cause the song "Sail" by awolnation is a total ripoff of that song!!! Sue866
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDiWkwvG_MYRaul Malo covering Roy Orbison. You may remember Raul from the country band The Mavericks.
Sue866
Re-watching Raul got me on a Youtube streak. I love his voice. Some of my favorite voices are Roy Orbison, Elvis, Raul Malo, Chris Isaak, Randy Travis, Johnny Cash... It's Christmas music time again and while I get sick of the usual songs played on the radio year after year, I have amassed a collection of Christmas CDs and songs that I never get sick of. I prefer original songs or fantastic renditions of traditional songs. Here is Chris Isaak and his original Christmas song "Washington Square". He wrote it for the service members away from families during the holidays. He also does a really great cover of "Pretty Paper" originally a Roy Orbison song. That led me to one of my favorite Christmas albums by the group Over the Rhine (yes, they're from Cincinnati). "Snow Angel" is so gorgeous - just like all their songs. Karin Berquist's voice is beautiful. Saint Etienne - "My Christmas Prayer" An oldie but a goodie. One of the saddest songs ever! Sappy, but still a Christmas classic in our house. Who am I kidding? All of these are sad. I must be feeling sad.

TheOrcKing
Yeah, seeing as it's finals week... I could use a hug. And a drink. And some sleep! One...more...week...!!!!Haha, I know the feeling. Finals week, ouch. Wild horses couldn't drag me back for that again. Well, you are almost there and the final stretch is just within reaching distance. You will succeed, milady. I can't quite come off the top of my head with any sad tunes; however, I do recall a couple of melodic tunes with a beautiful beat featuring some uplift for one's spirit. In short, very good. Here is one from a favorite series of films premiering CG in its infancy. Thomas Dolby - Valley of the Mind's Eye http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFlqJ0-OfLE I thought you like retro videogame music so here is a classic. DuckTales - The Moon http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_80PQ543rM The cover from DuckTales Remastered. To finish off, the most beautifully amazing rendition of quite possibly the most awesomest game tune ever. Tales of Phantasia - Fighting of the Spirit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EiyT8JHyfdQ The original from the SNES. The slightly remixed version from the Playstation.
